Rocker, Greg Kihn, passed away on August 13 from complications of Alzheimer's. He was 75. He had a couple of big hits in the 80's ("The Breakup Song," "Jeopardy") and he was known for a couple of other songs in the San Francisco Bay Area during the time (1996-2012) he was a DJ on KUFX (KFOX) 98.5 FM. I used to listen to him a lot. He had great stories and he would occasionally open up his "personal stash" of bootlegs he picked up across his career - live recordings of groups, like the Stones and Journey, he opened for or appeared with. Unlike some artists who refused to let Weird Al Yankovic spoof their hit songs, Kihn was all for it ("I Lost on Jeopardy," my favorite of Yankovic's parodies). He seemed like a regular guy who appreciated his fame but was also happy to move on to other things (DJ, novelist).

Talk show host Phil Donahue who was big in the 1970s to 90s, has died at 88. He tried to make a comeback on MSNBC in the early 2000s but his show was cancelled after 1 year.

Yeah, we remember that Donahue was huge in his day, but to someone in their 30's, he's like Jack Paar to me. Donahue started the daytime talk show trend that continues today. Back in the 60's and 70's, daytime was dominated by game shows and soap operas, but talk shows slowly began replacing them (just a few soaps and no afternoon game shows on the major networks now). This message has been edited. Colin Petersen, the Bee Gees original drummer, passed away on Nov 18. He was there when they had their first big hit, "To Love Somebody," in 1967. Today, I read that another Bee Gees drummer, Dennis Byron died on Nov 14. He was hired after Petersen left and was there during the 70's.

Today, I heard that Chuck Woolery passed away on Nov 23 at the age of 83. He was the first host of "Wheel of Fortune" and later hosted "Love Connection" from the early 80's to mid 90's. When I was a kid, I watched "New Zoo Revue." I think it was sometime in the 90's that I learned Woolery played the mailman on that show.

Scott L. Schwartz, who appeared in all three Ocean's Eleven films with George Clooney, has died at age 65. He was also a pro wrestler and had appeared in many TV shows, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He was a regular guest for many years at Paul Maiellaro's Chicago card shows and was a pleasure to talk to. He was very much involved with charity and spent much time visiting children's hospitals, a true gentle giant. R.I.P. Scott.

I have a few autographed Chicagoland cards of his however they are not to hand due to a recent house move. I know what binder they are in but not what the binder is in and sorting out my card collection after the move is low down on the list of outstanding items. R.I.P. Scott ____________________
