I found another one of those "Hulk" promos connected to Bimbo bread. This one shows a scene from the movie (Jennifer Connelly on the phone). This is #18 so it's probably at least a 20-card set.

It's a lenticular motion card (not much motion - more like a dual-image lenticular) and didn't scan well but it shows The Hulk busting through a brick wall. It measures 1 1/2 x 2 1/4 inches and bears The Hulk, Bimbo, Marvel, and Universal logos on the back.

According to abs-cards.net, it's also called something else.

Incredible Hulk, Marinela (Mexico): Similar to the Spider-Man Marinela mini-card set, this is a set of 30 small 3D lenticular cards, measuring approximately 1.5" x 2.25" and came in Marinela bread products available in Mexico. The set contains roughly an equal amount of artwork images and scenes taken from the Incredible Hulk movie. Cards with comic artwork already seen in other trading card sets and promotional items are almost entirely cast in various shades of green. The set checklist is given below (2003 Marvel, Universal)

1 Hulk (about to pounce on viewer, artwork)
2 Hulk (breaking through brick wall, artwork)
3 Hulk (hand outstretched toward viewer, artwork)
4 Hulk (arms out from torso, artwork)
5 Hulk (fighting large dog, artwork)
6 Hulk (standing with fists raised, artwork)
7 Hulk (breaking through metal wall, artwork)
8 Hulk (fists pounding ground, artwork)
9
10 Hulk (breaking rocks, artwork)
11 David Banner
12 Bruce Banner
13 Bruce Banner & Betty Ross (in lab)
14 Betty Ross
15 Thunderbolt Ross 30 Hulk (fighting tank)
16 Bruce Banner
17 Security guard (Lou Ferrigno)
18 Betty Ross (talking on the phone)
19 Glen Talbot
20 Betty Ross (with science instrument)
21 Bruce Banner / "Hulk" (text)
22 Hands
23 Hulk (eye transforming)
24 Hulk (throwing lab equipment)
25 Betty Ross & Bruce Banner (hugging)
26 Hulk (in chamber)
27 Betty Ross
28 Hulk (smashing car)
29 Hulk (swinging tank)
30 Hulk (fighting tank)

Thanks for the checklist.

I've never seen a Hulk Marinela card in person but have one Spider-Man Marinela card (will have to scan that for Card Talk) that I found years ago.

Coincidently, I just purchased a full 350 pack tray of the Bimbo Hulk cards off of feeBay recently for less than $25.00 shipped for the lot. What kind of collation I’ll ultimately find is TBD, but I couldn’t pass them up at that price regardless of that concern.

Aeolus,

I also bought one of those lots earlier today after checking to see if there were any other Bimbo or Mariela cards up for sale. We're taking at shot at maybe making a few sets of something unusual or maybe we're getting just over 100 copies of three of the cards plus singles of some of the others not coming close to one set. But hey, given the current state of card collecting, why not take that $30 gamble rather than the $300 one?

Here's an oddball I had not seen before last year. It's card #4 from the Parts Plus Super Chevy Show 66-card set (Autostar Productions, Inc., 1992) except that it's stamped "PROMO" on the back. The source is unknown but likely given out at the show so attendees could think about getting the full set. I also have a stamped promo of card #18 so it's possible there is a promo version of each of the cards in the set.

Here's one that looks like a Johnny Lightning card especially since there are at least a few series featuring car magazine covers. It even has a blank back like most Johnny Lightnings but this one was
inserted only with the Revell Lowrider Magazine '59 Chevy Impala die-cast car - part of a 12-car collection. I'm not sure there's an exclusive card with each car. There might also be more than one series. I had never seen this line of die-cast cars before sometime late last year. It's the kind of thing you would see at a flea market - always at least one guy with Hot Wheels/Johnny Lightnings and other die-cast.

If you found this card in a lot or loose at a flea maket and had never seen it before, you might have a hard time finding its source as it has no copyright info nor a Revell logo. The date on the packaging is 2004.

I see on Ebay that some Revell cars don't come with a card. Sellers want a lot for an unopened one too, starting around $30.

Here's that Spider-Man card from Marinela products (Marvel/Columbia Pictures, 2002). It promotes the first Spider-Man movie with Tobey Maguire. They're 3D cards, each measuring 1 9/16 x 2 5/16 inches.

This is the only card I have and I got it maybe 8-10 years ago as a random find. I haven't seen any others whenever I've looked for them.

I noticed that the link was broken a few weeks ago, and around that time I happened to get a pretty good deal on an unopened Storm figure from the X-Men Classics Toy Biz set at a local comic shop.

Below is a 9/10 "Storm" Suspended Animation chase card from the X-Men Ultra '95 set (Fleer, 1995) and below that is the variant card packed with the Storm figure. The two cards have the same art and are identified as Suspended Animation cards but the chase is a cel/acetate card with the "Fleer Ultra '95" logo in gold foil and a 1994 copyright date while toy insert card is regular card stock without the logo and a misprinted "19994" copyright.

Allender's site notes that there is a toy insert variant for each of the 10 Suspended Animation chase cards but Amalia Barrios' site says that there only six variants exist (Beast, Cyclops, Gambit, Magneto, Storm, and Wolverine). A check of Ebay reveals those six but none others. It's possible there are all ten but I haven't seen them.

I should add that I've seen what appear to be base cards from the X-Men Ultra '94 set instead of the variants packed with those action figures.

Also, cards that have been sealed for just over the past thirty years can show signs of damage from deformation of the cardboard backing of the packaging. They can be bowed or even creased, so if you want the figure mostly for the card now, you might want to buy one in person in order to get a close look at it (tough to judge in the provided photos of an Ebay listing). They are also partly taped in place to help secure them in the packaging. After all this time, the tape can just fall off but might leave a minor stain on the card.

As for prices, unopened figures of that line have come down since the pandemic. They were going for over $30 then but are more in the $15-30 range now. You can find loose toy inserts in the $5-15 range and the chase cards are around $5.

I checked that out, Piko. That could be the beginning of a cool thread. I have seen at least one of those X-Men '95 Ultra Suspended Animations variants in the Toy Biz action figures. They don't have the gold foil on the fronts that the chase cards in the packs have. Prices have been high for the action figures even before the pandemic.

Hopefully, more people get involved and show some card images.

Jess

P.S. Here's a shot of the front and back of one of the Toy Biz Suspended Animation variants from Amalia Barrios' site:

I can't remember ever seeing this card (Dale Keown, 1993) before last month. It was inserted with a limited edition Pitt (Image Comics) pewter figure made by Heartbreaker Pewter. It's serial numbered out of 9999 but I wonder if they actually made that many figures and printed that many cards. I think it's a pretty rare card now but have others seen it over the years? I see a couple of other figures on Ebay and the card is with at least one of them.

I haven't seen any other cards from the same company but there might be one for Tribe (another Image comic).

Here's a card (Warner Bros., 1996) I saw for sale about ten years ago but the seller didn't know anything about it and a search of the web didn't help so I hesitated on buying it. I think it sold the next day for about $15. I had an image of it but lost track of it though I did keep some notes on what it looked like.

Fast forward to several weeks ago when I saw one again after keeping an eye open for another one over the years. This time, the seller was reasonably certain that it was given out at an Orioles game in 1996 or perhaps the Orioles Fan Fest that year. I didn't hesitate this time.

We remember the character, the frog that likes to sing but not when someone else tries to cash in on his talent, even though he was in only one 1955 cartoon. I didn't see it until the late 60's at the earliest but certainly by the mid-70's. I didn't know he had a name, Michigan J. Frog, until much later.

The card promotes Mr. Frog, who was a spokesman/mascot for the WB Network (brand new in early 1995), and WBDC-TV, the Washington D.C. TV affiliate. The WB would later shut down in 2006 as part of a merger with the UPN network, becoming the CW which is still in operation.

I've seen this card only twice. I think it's like that Lion King SB1 promo. It was given out to hundreds if not thousands of people but the vast majority of baseball fans were unlikely to be interested in keeping a non-sports card or at least they didn't work too hard to keep track of it. They likely littered the ground after the game either tossed or just mishandled or unintentionally mixed in with wrappers and containers into the trash.

The card is glossy on both sides and is standard-sized.

Yeah, Adrian, it's always great to find an early 90's promo we haven't seen before. Just when you think we might have accounted for them all, you find another one and that one hints at more out there.

I don't know if anyone has a scan of this one. On the 1996 All-Time Toons set by Upper Deck, there is a C1-01 promo of Bugs Bunny.

However, about 20 years ago, someone showed me an unnumbered cell from the same set, and it was rumored to have come with a Christmas ornament.

Jeff Allender's site doesn't list anything like this. I think the image showed the Tasmanian Devil, but I could be wrong.
