They are predicting maybe 150 M for Lilo & Stitch this weekend and 85 M for Mission Impossible (domestic gross for both). We will see.

The bigger story is budgets...MI8 is roughly $400M and Lilo & Stitch is $100M

Of course Mission Impossible has a bunch more international potential.

I want to see "Superman" in a theater. I haven't seen last year's "MI" yet so I want to see that before this year's. My brother says the Wes Anderson movie looks good. I havent seen all of his but I've liked all the ones I've seen.

From the rest of the list, I'll see the "Mission Impossible" streaming and the Jurassic Park probably not at all, but I'll definitely go to the movies for "Superman", "Fantastic Four", "Thunderbolts", and the new Paul Thomas Anderson and Ari Aster films (and maybe "The Phoenician Scheme" from Wes Anderson).

Lilo & Stitch $341M world wide.....instant hit.

Mission Impossible world wide at $204M...respectable but still a long way to go to recover the massive production budget.

Final Destination Bloodlines is a hit nearly doubling its budget domestically with another $100M international.

Sinners is another hit passing its budget by $160M domestic with another $80M international.

Thunderbolts is roughly $100M short of break even.

Accountant 2 is big Miss.

The Top 5 of 2025 domestically so far:

(1) Minecraft (421 M)
(2) Sinners (259 M)
(3) Captain America (200 M)
(4) Lilo & Stitch (183 M)
(5) Thunderbolts (174 M)

No doubt that Lilo will be # 2 by early June.

Mission Impossible will likely make it to # 6 this coming weekend. Will it break 200 M ?

Fortunately made on a modest budget of $45M....it did break $47M world wide. It may not earn it's money back in the theater but streaming should give it a boost.

The new Top 5 domestically:

(1) Minecraft (422 M)
(2) Lilo & Stitch (280 M)
(3) Sinners (261 M)
(4) Captain America (200 M)
(5) Thunderbolts (181 M)

Mission Impossible is struggling at 122 M. It might make less than the last one, which grossed 172 M in 2023 and was considered to be a disappointment.

The John Wick spinoff "Ballerina" comes out Friday

Will it be like the Furiosa (the Mad Max spinoff) last summer, which flopped ?

I don't know his level of involvement, but they're using Keanu on a lot of promo material. That should be a pretty big draw.

With how much money those cost to produce, it's hard to imagine they'd keep making them without the approx. 3 billion they've tacked on in international box office, as well as TV rights, digital purchases, and for at least the first half of them, pretty good home media sales. I'm pretty sure they'll make at least one more of them. MI: The Double, Extra, Super Final Reckoning (No, Really!)

Mission Impossible 8 has made 450 M worldwide so far, but it cost at least 400 M (if not way more) to make.

The last one in 2023 grossed about 571 M worldwide.

Just read an article on how Disney lost alot of money on Thunderbolts which only grossed 378 M worldwide despite very good reviews. They may now focus on big movies only like Avengers and Spider Man which are guaranteed to make money.

It's said the first person who will live to 150 years old has already been born. I believe Tom Cruise is that person. Expect at least 3 more of these.
