I have just come across that Murray Melvin (British actor) died aged 90 on the 14th April. Apparently he a had a fall in December last year and never really recovered from it. He did quite a lot of theatre as well as TV and some films. He appeared in the very first Avengers episode in January 1961 of which only about 15 minutes of the programme exists and he had a couple of autograph cards in Unstoppable Card's The Complete Avengers Set 2. He also was in in Torchwood and his card is #42.

I have shown his image taken from one of the Unstoppable cards

regards

John

Australian actor and comedian Barry Humphries, best known for his alter ego, Dane Edna Everage, has passed away at 89.

Here's a famous Australian insert set tribute card featuring Homer as Barry's classic character from the 1996 Tempo Simpsons Down Under card set.

Here are the two promos for the Comic Images' "Jerry Springer Show" set that was planned but didn't end up getting made. I've also seen Omnichrome chase cards that were printed.

One of few sports autographs I have because of his crossover talent into films.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar made his memorable "Airplane" appearance while still a big star for the LA Lakers and Joe Namath full-on starred in a couple of movies while he was starting quarterback for the New York Jets.

Ray Stevenson has been in so many shows and movies I've loved. Rome, Vikings, Black Sails etc. He was a guy that seemed to pop up in everything. Looks like he didn't quite make his 59th birthday. Very sad.

Nah, those cards don't do her justice. Just recently I watched a broadcast of her live concert in Wembley Stadium from 2000. So she was like 60 then and half the fans in the packed stadium were less than half her age. She blew the place down. I don't think any singer, male or female, could ever command a stage the way she did, strutting around and dancing her a$$ off. And she could sing in that way that you always knew it was Tina Turner just by listening to it.

There will not be another like her, just poorer imitators.

One more for Queen Tina:

She was an amazing person.
Rest in peace.
