Still hate sticker autos. It just makes it so easy to come up with all these dual/triple autos even though the autos aren't anymore special than the single auto cards, they all just come from the same sticker reel.

Still, it's an impressive autograph list for those wanting to collect Star Wars cards.

as Far as I Know, Only the Multi-Autograph Cards are using Stickers (Maybe the Harrison Ford)The Rest are ON CARD.

Stickers are likely necessary for multi-autograph cards as there really isn't a lot of room on them for multiple signers, especially if some of them have large signatures. By using the stickers, they can determine exactly how much space each person gets.

I'm not a fan of sticker autos, but they DO have the hologram watermark, thus ensuring they are authentic. So, there IS that.

I think these signers have signed enough autograph cards in their time to know that they need to sign in the small white box. And if nothing else, their ability to sign on a small sticker proves they can sign just as small on the card itself.

Masterworks really are nice autograph cards with a great look and feel and all on card, but the high-end pulls (double/triple autos) are all crappy stickers!
Topps clearly have repeated access/good relationships with these signers they clearly just can't be bothered with the logistics of sending the same cards out to multiple people.

It just comes down to one thing really, easy cards for big money in any product under the same title. These stickers could have been signed this month, last month, last year, for the veteran stars you could possibly go back as far as they have been signing stickers for TOPPS. No way of knowing how long they have been stored or how many are left for future Star Wars products. Meanwhile the combination of related stars as dual or triple signatures ensures that they will have high value cards in the mix and that will support the high box/case price.

Sticker autographs work very well for card manufacturers, their only draw back is that most collectors prefer on-card autographs.

Are all the cards printed on a thick card stock? I never really liked those.

I have never heard so many horror stories about a set before..........

I didn't order this one.... I trying to stick with Star Trek.

At this point there are so many Star Wars sets that I can't see how anyone believes that the cards can ever be absorbed if they stopped making them dead in their tracks right now.

They will of course not stop dead now, they will go on for many years. There are at least two more Star Wars movies, plus Rogue One, plus something about a young Han Solo, plus who knows how many films breeding from those stories or secondary characters in those stories. Mass retail cards can flood the stores and super-limited hobby only products can flood the secondary market. Yeah, you can be limited and still flood because the accumulation of limited product is just overproduction of the whole title.

Having said all that and having read about the various gripes already on record for Masterwork 2016, mainly due to TOPPS pre-release misinformation, it will sell out. It may have already. Whether collectors are buying or flippers are buying makes no difference to TOPPS or dealers holding. If people who are trying to sell wind up losing money, it may effect the next product, not this one. Or maybe the one after that, because it takes a long time for people to learn lessons and some people keep making the same mistake.

Eventually it will be evident that retail, hobby, cheap, expensive, mass produced, limited, low tech, hi tech, sticker, on-card, or whatever, they have built a house of Star Wars cards that will collapse under its own weight. But not today.

I think it is funny how Topps can get the UK stamps (which are still on sale from Royal Mail), stick them on a card with a number, and then call them a 'hit' which can go for over $100.

I don't know his stories, but TOPPS gave out info that fell through about relics that are not in it, artists that did not contribute in the end and what signers are on stickers and who signed on-card. There are also concerns about sketch quality since artist compensation for this product is reported as having been minimal. And prices are fluctuating.

When the breaks come we will know if they are overblown issues or not.

Quite a few video breaks of this on YouTube. I can't believe how many people breaking boxes of this product know NOTHING about Star Wars. One guy couldn't even pronounce "Boba Fett". It was shocking (and sad).

Not surprised at all. People say these types of high end non-sport cards are designed to attract the big spender sports card collectors. I don't think these guys are sports card collectors either, they are not any kind of card collector. They are Rippers and Flippers who are only interested in selling enough hits to make a profit on what they bought and once they do that they can dump everything else.

You should check out the thread on Blowout: page after page of people incandescent with rage at how this product has panned out.

- Cancelled relic cards at the last minute (apparently at Disney/Lucasfilm's orders) that would have been a BIG draw.
- Sticker autographs applied to Medallion cards to make up for the missing relic cards but many seem to hate these "manufactured hits".
- An advertised list of sketch artists but once the product was out Topps said this list was of people who had participated/submitted cards but were not finalised/approved. Many top artist's cards are being held back for a future release ( Topps have confirmed).
- A massively reduced quantity of sketches due to the supposedly stricter approval process (meaning they are coming out approx. 1 per case) and yet some appalling quality sketches have still been inserted!
- A large autograph list with too many repeat low-end signers that can't provide value to breakers. Many cards using the same images seen set after set.
- Masterworks was always sold as a premium product with on-card autos being a main feature, and nobody knew until the product went live that Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels and John Boyega are ALL sticker autos! The stickers slapped onto the wood cards are especially horrendous.

To be honest, I find it all hilarious. It's as if the people complaining didn't know Topps is one of the shadiest card manufacturer's out there. When they were willing to shove a billion screaming monkey sketches into Indiana Jones Heritage all those years ago, the writing was on the wall with regards just what Topps are prepared to put in their product and just how little they care about quality and collectors. If these big breakers weren't so concerned with ripping and flipping (greed) they would treat Topps products with the skepticism they deserve.

Agree with all you said and would also add that now, in addition to dealing with TOPPS' usual antics, Disney is imposing its own imperial demands on this title. Both card collectors and flippers should be on notice that this is what you can expect going forward, so don't complain that its all such a surprise.
