Nice find!!! I don't have my set anymore, just my scans of them. Best picture is Nick Varner. He looks ready for fun.

I saw a number of sets represented on Ebay including one from 1910 and even a few from recent years including some billiards cards that are part of more general sports sets.

I have one or two other promos from a Willie Mosconi set (undated but one seller says it's from 1999). He and Minnesota Fats were two of the more widely-known pool players of the 70's. I remember Steve Mizerak being in a Miller Lite commercial back then too.

Not about promotional cards but as Jess has shown some Billiards cards I was curious as the earliest Billiards card issue so I did a quick dive into one of my card catalogues as it was near to hand and the date I found was 1909 with a cigarette card set issued by W.D. & H. O. Wills. other issuers issued a couple of sets about 20-30 years later and later still I found a snooker set of stickers issued in 1985 but I could not find any "Pool" sets but I am sure they must have been at least one set issued.

Jess

many thanks, I have since also discovered that Salmon & Gluckstein produced a set of 15 cards called Billiard Terms circa 1905 and each card could be found with its card number in one of 2 sizes. I believe that if I looked hard enough I would find even more.
