Zootopia 2 is up to 401 M domestically. If it can somehow make 22 M more it will pass Lilo & Stitch to become the # 2 film of 2025 here in the states. .

I have a thought on this. A lot of people complain there are no original films. I can look at the movies listed for any theater and most movies showing are something new. The problem is, people don't go to see them unless there's an odd breakout film (like Sinners). So how is a movie studio supposed to lose money pumping out tons of original ideas in the hopes that one clicks, when a sequel is almost a surefire moneymaker?

I believe that 2025 was the first time in decades, aside from the COVID year 2020, that the # 1 film didn't come out between May and July or Nov/Dec. Minecraft came out in mid spring last year
