Of the 35 films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe released since 2008, the new Captain America ranks # 32 in terms of the domestic box office.

Only The Marvels, The Eternals, and the 2008 Incredible Hulk film made less money.

If it can earn another 20 M more, it might make it to # 28 of 35, as there are four films slightly ahead of it.

Mickey 17 was # 1 this weekend grossing 19 million. But it cost at least 120 M to make...

The new Captain America film is up to 177 M domestically, which means that it just inched passed the original movie from 2011, which made about 176 M.

It will pass Ant-Man, Thor, and Black Widow next week, but won't go much further.

Of the 35 MCU movies it will end up at # 28 in terms of the domestic box office.

Dog Man is a hit on a $40M budget. $89M domestic and $120M world wide and still going.

Not sure how well Disney's "Snow White" will do when it is released next week, March 21.

It has been mired in controversy on many levels and it seems like Disney is running away from it.

Disney had a great 2024, but this year hasn't been hot so far. Captain America has made almost 400 K worldwide but it seems like it cost at least 300 K to produce and advertise, so not a major hit.

No hits this past weekend.

Novocaine, Black Bag, and the animated Looney Tunes movie all fell in the 3 to 8 M range, each.

I didn't even know there was a new Looney Tunes (Porky Pig and Daffy Duck) movie opening.

I've seen ads online, but didn't realize it was a theatrical release. I just assumed streaming.

The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie was nearly lost forever until it was picked up by GFM Animation and Ketchup Entertainment. The film's theatrical release began on March 14, 2025, in the U.S., having already completed a cinematic run in Germany and Switzerland on August 1, 2024. GFM Animation and Ketchup Entertainment are much smaller companies than Warner. Bros, and this means they don't have the same money or resources to give The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie the fanfare that a Looney Tunes film deserves. Its marketing, both globally and in the U.S., has been minimal, and there are still many major markets that The Day The Earth Blew Up has yet to open in, including the United Kingdom and Japan. Its global reach would likely have been much wider had Warner Bros. continued to handle its distribution.

Its poor advertising has also resulted in a much lower Box Office than would typically be expected from a Looney Tunes picture. During its first weekend of release in the United States, The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie grossed a measly $3.2 million. Its numbers were still enough to secure a fifth-place position at the Box Office, but it is still considerably lower than expected for an entry in a major motion picture franchise.

What is typical Box Office for a Looney Tunes movie? They can't possibly be comparing this to Space Jam and Space Jam 2, which were headlined by the biggest NBA players at the time.

"The Alto Knights", a 1950s gangster film with Robert De Niro playing two roles, opens this Friday and already Warner Bros. is writing it off as a BOMB with a predicted opening of only 2 to 3 million.

I can't recall the last time that De Niro had a film which made money. Maybe "Silver Linings Playbook" back in 2012.

Without any opinion on the title, Snow White coming in at $87M world wide on a budget of $250M is a clear disaster for Disney. I think I saw the original once as a kid but never felt the desire to watch it again.

Snow White may not even make 100 M here in the U.S. which would be a huge embarrassment.

Captain America has grossed 400 M worldwide but allegedly cost 380 M to make and market.

Disney is off to a rough start this year

On a $40M budget and a 1000 less screens Working Man pushes Snow White out of the top spot. Domestically it is opening in the same ballpark as The Beekeeper which went on to $162M world wide.

On a $12M budget The Woman in the Yard hits $9.5M in the first weekend. Reviews not great.

A 4k re-release of Princes Mononoke slams another $4M on just 330 screens adding to the $210M it has already made. It did pull an impressive $12,100 per theater.

Two episodes of The Chosen Last Supper grabbed $11M at the box office....I assume that must be good for a TV show.

They are predicting that the Minecraft Movie with Jason Momoa will be a hit this weekend.

Snow White has grossed a mere 70 M to date domestically.
