Looking really nice though I don't like the randomness of chase cards. Does anyone know if there will be at least 1 premium card per box?

With Cryptozoic autographs are almost always 1 per box, wardrobe cards are at least 1 per box, and sketches are usually 1 per case. I haven't heard any specific ratios for the Downton set yet though.

New info has been released by Cryptozoic. Sketches are 1:442 packs and there will be mini-sketches as well as standard size. I take it from the story that the autograph list is pretty much complete. You can read it here: http://www.cryptozoic.com/blogs/trading-card-updates

If it takes 442 packs to pull, why exactly would anyone want a mini sketch over a standard size sketch?

So 1 sketch per 18 boxes. But is a mini-sketch considered a sketch card ? Or is the mini-sketch cards at a different pull rate ? ____________________

Well, you don't really have a chance to pull one. You have more of a "mini-chance". ____________________ Everywhere around this burg they're running out of verbs, adverbs, and adjectives. Everywhere around this town, they're running out of nouns.

It's really sad that they decided to make the sketch cards such tough pulls. As Ed queried, it would be really nice if the mini-sketch cards had a better pull rate. It would be really lame to pull a mini-sketch card after going through 1.535 cases of product.

I think the main reason for the scarcity is that fewer artists signed up for set. Even fewer for the smaller size.

I believe the ratio on this product is better than it was on Revenge...I think it was 1:3 cases on Revenge. The sketch cards are really an extra hit...this product will still have autos and wardrobe cards. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Chuck Bartowski,

yeah indeed, the smaller size is well, quite small, but very cool! so of course most are more comfortable with the regular size. I don't think any company really 'decide' a sketch card ratio. They set a production run and go with the sketches they have based on: -artists that signed on the set, that is influenced by the popularity of a show or film -artists that are 'approved' for the set (in some case they pre-approve some artists based on the samples they see -number of sketches that remain after the licensor give the final approval so depending of the situations, the final number can be quite small vs the initial forecast, but in most case, they can be seen as 'a bonus hit' for Cryptozoic's set and Game of Thrones for instance

I am just hoping my wife finds one in one of her 2 boxes. Along with all the autos, costumes, base set and inserts in those 2 boxes!

Cryptozoic posted about base sets in Revenge, but it seems it will apply to Downton Abbey as well so it's worth the read:
Seems to me the simple solution is to go to 6 cards per pack. Because at $84.00 SRP, you SHOULD get a base set out of it IMHO. Ed ____________________ Trading Page Now Online: http://www.scifi.cards/trading.html Collecting Sketches of the Character Crystal

Now I am thoroughly confused !! In the quote above, where does the 126 base cards come from ? I thought both Revenge and Downton Abbey are 108 base card sets ? Also, no one has any answer per my prior posts ? Are mini-sketches considered regular sketches @ the insertion rate of 1:442 packs (1:18.4 boxes), or are they "in addition" to the regular sketches ? ____________________

Yes, I know what you mean. On the Downton Abbey Main Page, it states that the base set is 108 cards. However, on the "New Archer Release Date and Other Updates" post from Feb 10, 2014, it states: "...collectors should keep this situation in mind for Downton Abbey Series 1 & 2 Trading Cards, as we will run into similar issues since the base set is also very large (126 Base cards)."

Dave, thanks for your reply ... so not as to beat a dead horse ... you are saying that the odds of pulling EITHER a regular-size sketch or a mini-sketch are the stated 1:442 packs ? ____________________

That is what it looks like, yes. A Sketch card (regular or Mini) will hit 1:442 packs. Hopefully, my wife will find one in her 48 packs!

Yep, I agree. We all didn't complain too much when boxes shrunk from 36 to 24 packs, at least not that I remember, and that was quite awhile ago. Then the number of boxes per case was reduced. Then the number of cards per pack started going down. By and large box prices have stayed in the same range, but by any measure the contents have decreased significantly.
