I'm sorry that you laughed. It means I wrote a lot of words, and you have no understanding of what I said. You would rather make incorrect assumptions about someone you don't know, as you have done with me before, then just give an opinion yourself. Everything you said about me is wrong, but the only thing that really hurts is the suggestion that I would ever watch Glee.

Oh dear. My tongue was firmly wedged in my cheek. But obviously my emojis didn't get over the correct intonation. Never mind. No assumptions were made whatsoever, other than your assumption about my supposed assumption. Not going to lose sleep over it. C'est la Vie.

I'm glad you liked Detectorists, it is hard to gauge whether it's style of comedy would work outside the UK.

A deal for Comcast to acquire ITV's Media and Entertainment division has just been announced. Apparently, this will create the UK's largest commercial broadcaster and streaming business. The idea is to compete with Netflix and Prime in the UK and EU. There will be a lot of consolidation and shifting in UK media and with subscribers. How much and how soon this effects the BBC and Britbox I don't know, but bigger competition is rarely good news. ITV did originally share ownership of Britbox with the BBC until 2024 when they sold out. All of this media shifting is getting very confusing. No wonder Doctor Who is on hiatus.

Comcast is the company that owns SKY TV which was the original and still biggest satellite and now streaming network in the UK. I've suspected they've been buddies with ITV for a while along with Disney, as the Disney UK site has a lot of ITV tv progs and recently my SKY subscription gave me the Disney subscription for free. I'm not sure how it will affect the BBC and therefore Doctor Who as ITV is a completely different company. As to Britbox that is probably a singular contract thing for that service and will no doubt have some changes... maybe. The regulations say that ITV still has to have its free to air channels even after this takeover, but I suspect their streaming arm(known here as ITVX) will have changes to it. The BBC is funded by the TV licence(although, even if you don't watch the BBC you still need a licence if you own a TV). The separate company ITV Studios produces things for the BBC, but the channel itself has no influence or connection to the BBC. They both usually like to pretend that the other one doesn't exist. Anyway, the short version is that ITV being bought by SKY(Comcast) will probably have little to no effect on Doctor Who's future, unless they buy/contract it from the Beeb.

Small correction. You can own a TV set without holding a TV licence. However, if you want to watch or record any live TV on any channels then you need a TV licence. You also need one to watch BBC iPlayer or any regular BBC channels.
