Back in December 2018 I pledged $ 35 towards a book that was supposed to come with exclusive trading cards The creator just announced that he will be ready to ship very soon Only 7 1/2 years later

He's a slow writer. Now the question is, what will you get for your $35? The same as what was offered in 2018? Surely you would be ahead of the game accounting for inflation, assuming you get the original deal. I don't know how the creator could not lose money figuring on the higher prices of everything from printing to shipping over 7 1/2 years. Wouldn't count on getting that book and cards without more investment if I were you.

I backed a video game in 2021 that has yet to see the light of day. Last update was that another company purchased the rights to the game and they're gonna try to finish it. I wish it came with cards, I wouldn't mind the wait as much knowing there will be cards eventually...

I think that I first started pledging on Kickstarter back in 2014 or so. I still remember two bad experiences that I had very early on with 2 campaigns. One guy promised a comic with metal cards and then he just vanished. About 5 years later he sent the comic out but the cards were on thin card stock, almost paper like. Certainly not metal. The other campaign, I believe the guy just took the money and disappeared.

It has been so long that I don't really remember the Kickstarter at all. The campaign was taken down years ago so there is no link to view anything. But I found the email from 2018. This is what I am supposed to get: The Book, Sticker, and Card Backers get a physical copy of the book "Chase the Moon." Your name will also be listed in the thank you section of the book. You will also receive A Chase the Moon Sticker, and Trading Card INCLUDES • Physical Copy of Chase the Moon • Listed in Thank you section • Chase the Moon Sticker • Chase The Moon Trading Card • Digital PDF

My mother did a Kickstarter for my daughter when she was four. She gets an update every year. My daughter will be 16 in a few months.

Looks like the book from this late 2018 Kickstarter may actually ship soon The creator says that it's been so long that Kickstarter shut down the campaign, and so he's having difficulty retrieving people's names and the pledges. But he has the items in hand and he is ready to send them out.

Yes, after one year, they remove the creator's access to all of their backer's old contact and addresses. However, if he/she/it writes them and explains they need temporary access to ship old rewards, Kickstarter will reopen it for them. Bt after 8 years, many of the emails, phone numbers, and address could have changed. I hope he confirms them all before shipping. Personally, I think it's fantastic they are shipping an old forgotten campaign, because they obviously "got away with it" with using the backer's pledge money for nearly eight years-- before caming home to Jesus (or whomever) for whatever reason. Kudos to them! There are lots of unfulfilled Kickstarter projects that never evolve to that point. Having successfully launched and fully fulfilled 17 Kickstarters so far, I can tell you I absolutely HATE the 5% or so creators who take the money and run. But I urge everyone who goes to Kickstarter to check out the PREVIOUS projects any creator has done before investing in their new project. All their previous public comments are still on-line, so if people were screwed before by the same creator, you can assume YOU will get similar treatment. If they have good comments, you SHOULD be okay-- although "prior results are on guarantee of future performance." It it's their FIRST Kickstarter, then you would do well to remember Clint Eastwood's famous Dirty Harry line: "Do you fell lucky? Well... do you? PUNK?" ____________________ "Life is a sexually transmitted terminal disease." -Papa Prell
