I am still looking for the Pokemon Action Flipz promo from ArtBox (1999), that Jess posted a scan of awhile back. Never seen that one !

Maybe I should check out those stores ! Smile

Yeah, also look at Ebay's completed auctions. A lot of the highest prices for singles were paid for Pokemon cards - thousands of dollars.

Thanks for the link. I just watched that video. Ken Goldin mentioned his Netflix show, "King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch," now in its third season. My brother told me about it last year. It's a show about Goldin looking for valuable collectibles to put up in his auctions. Check it out. I've seen just a couple of older episodes.

Last week, I was in a Safeway near the customer service desk when a guy asked the woman behind the desk for some Pokemon packs. There's also a Pokemon kiosk in the store but it's usually sold out. I was surprised to see that the store also sold some at customer service (different cardboard packs than I'd seen before). They were about $7 each and he bought 10 of them. He was talking to the woman mentioning that he hadn't gotten any valuable cards yet. He had bought maybe that many before so he's into it for at least $100 ($140?) and still buying packs even though he hadn't pulled a hit yet. Does that sound familiar?

I think there may be one difference. It's more likely that he wanted to pull a big Pokémon hit in order to sell it, rather than keep it for himself. I'll bet you kept any good cards you found in packs. I did.

I think he was in his twenties and probably a newbie just wanting to dive into what his friends/co-workers have been talking about.

Oh yeah, I keep those. I have sold some singles I have bought but I don't think I've ever sold a cool card I pulled from a pack.

After all this time, I just haven't been curious enough to buy Pokemon packs. They're cards with a kind of goofy cartoon artwork I'm not into. I'm more into Fish-o-saurs - finished that set some time ago.
