Comic Images All Chromium Salvador Dali set wasn't so popular at the start and I bought a couple Gold -Foil signature cards for $20 a piece then. Now on ebay the gold card is asking for as much as $700. I don't know if they're actually getting that much for them I doubt. But there were only 500 made and there are Dali collectors worldwide and so they are rare.

However I happen to have a card rarer than the Gold card... And that is the actual Redemption Card that you would find in a pack which you would then mail-away for your Gold Card. Most all collectors would mail their Redemption Cards in promptly to get their Gold Card without a thought to the Redemption Card itself so I think its safe to say there are very few left.
So any thoughts about redemption cards being valuable or even if they qualify as part of the set?

The redemption card would certainly be considered part of a master set and it's certainly rare, but as has been said among collectors/dealers across hobbies, rare doesn't always mean valuable.

By now, most of the people who collected the Dali set probably already have it or are happy to have just the signature card. I see one sold for $51.01 on May 11. That may be closer to the going-rate. There is another one on Ebay right now in an auction starting at $98 with no bids.

All the ones I've seen have been in a screw-down case like that which makes some collectors nervous (is the card stuck to it after all these years?).

Yes redemption cards are used to obtain a certain card of the set pieceworks or autograph from the producer and are a part of the set .
There are not many redemption cards produced today like the early 2000s when they had the pictures on them .Inkworks now defunct produced some fantastic very collectible looking redemption cards and inserted them at a rate in their series boxes. You sent the card in and recieved the redeemed card with the cancelled redemption card back. And some of them now command high prices.
I Think you now get a plain card not very collectible with a code on it send the code in and you get the card noted .I am not sure about other producers Comic Images etc .

I did actually find a Dali redemption card in the 90s and sent it in, but I didn't get the card back with the Gold Card. And frankly didn't think about it till recently. I have no idea of how many cards were actually redeemed.
