Do we actually pay for all the McDonalds toys with Happy Meals. apparently with the recent McD Huntrix Card issue we do Here in NZ we paid $15 NZ for a happy meal with one pack of Huntrix cards wich was a promotion. Now the promotion has finished the price of a Happy Meal has been reduced bu $2.50 thus making it $12.50 Wich in the context we were actually paying $2.50 for the pack of cards. So we were actually paying $2.50 for something that we thought was a free Happy Meal item . Any thoughts on this I do not know what other Countries were charged or what was the outcome was.

The $12.50 also covered the cost of the illustrated Happy Meal boxes and the signage in every McD and other advertising. If there was a food item that was provided only for the promotion, the extra money covered that too. On top of that, was whatever profit they wanted per Happy Meal.

Yes I agree with this. But all of this was factored in before the Huntrix cards appeared . We only had to pay the extra when the promotion was in effect . Then it was taken off when the promotion was finished wich in my mind we were quietly paying for the cards wich we thought was a free item that over the years we have had with our happy meals . So charging $2.50 extra during the promotion to me means that we are paying for the cards that we thought was the toy or item that we normally had inserted in our meal at no extra charge . Nowere at McD did I see a sign saying that the card packs with the meal was an extra charge of $2.50 per pack. Or that because of the cards Happy Meals were increasing by $2.50 These days advertising jargon can promise Gold but deliver Copper.
