| The earlier Superman Holo series, issued right in the middle of the days the presses really ran, were released in several different styles and I don't think they sold well. As I recall, those the super rare retail boxes with the RED holograms came out a good 6 months (maybe longer) after the normal retail and hobby boxes had hit, so I think that might've been an attempt on Skybox's part to get rid of the unsold product. The Batman set came out the next year (and the technology was already much improved making it far superior to the Superman set), and by then, production numbers across the board were rapidly decreasing. Further, the Batman Holoseries, unlike the Superman holoseries, was only issued in Hobby packs, so without Target/Kmart/Kaybee Toys and the like selling them, that alone would've reduced the original quantity manufactured signifcantly. Finally, the playable 6 card Overpower chase set (cards were found in in every other box or so) have been popular for years now and singles can sell for up to $100 each so that resulted in most of the remaining boxes being broken down years ago in the search of those Overpower chase cards, which were themselves holograms. ____________________ Everywhere around this burg they're running out of verbs, adverbs, and adjectives. Everywhere around this town, they're running out of nouns.

| Thanks for the info, guys. I knew about the Overpower cards, which I figured might have resulted in lots of boxes being broken. However, I was not aware of the more limited distribution channels of this release (actually, I just didn't do the research on that aspect of the set...)
It's interesting that I can find the insert cards (H1-H4) very easily and cheaply, but the base set is virtually non-existent. Very infrequently, a set will show up on eBay, but the prices the sellers want is usually not worth it. Not sure why the insert set is so easy to find, but the base set is elusive. According to Jeff Allender's site, a box should have yielded slightly less than 1.5 sets, so two boxes would be almost three complete sets. Additionally, there were gold and blue parallel sets, so I wouuld think boxes got broken for those as well.

| Just out of curiosity, I have two different promo cards for this series. Are they rare at all, or are they easy to find? |

There's a very common promo (unnumbered - scan here) Not sure what your other promo is. There is a 1 per box (but fairly available) clearcel insert that you might have thought is a promo. There's a fairly rare promo with Kenner on it which is from the History of Batman set. Post a scan (or sent it to me - email in profile) and I can try and work out what it is. |

| Feebay! I couldn't express it better!
The other 'promo' I thought I had is just a base card. My mistake, it was inserted in my misc. card album because it's the only card I have from that set. |

I've been looking for one for years as well as the Superman "red" hologram set. |

I was actually able to make a trade and get the set, finally. Thanks ! |

I have 3 (Silver) sets, 1 (Gold) Set, and 1 (Blue Stamped) Set.
See my earlier post for silver/gold (tending to $20 if none have been available for a while). The blue is much rarer and in the $200 range. |
