There really should have been a "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" set of cards.

What other card sets should have been?

Twisters? There was a set for Twister, way back when.

The one that I miss most is Apollo 13. I remember rumors of one for that movie, but it didn't happen. Not only could they have gotten cast signatures, but also from the astronauts and NASA officials. Who wouldn't like an Ed Harris/Eugene Kranz dual? or Tom Hanks/Jim Lovell?

I really enjoyed the first couple of seasons of Westworld, I think it would fit nicely into what Rittenhouse is producing. Good opportunities for autographs and a visually interesting set.

The later seasons got a bit off the mark for me, but the first couple of seasons were great.

Additional Panini Music sets -- there was a rumor that they were going to do other genres after Country Music, but they didn't materialize.

I think they could do a similar set with entertainers -- i.e. stand up comedians, magicians, etc.

I think the days when card companies would take the risk on a single film are gone.

There really should have been a proper, licensed trading card set for The Dark Knight.

Hard to believe Topps didn't do one.

I don't watch enough TV to even know if shows like this exist anymore, but it would have been something to get comprehensive sets from Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Murder She Wrote, etc -- long-running shows that had extensive guest casts. Law & Order? NCIS?

Having said companies don't really do single film sets anymore of course Unstoppable Cards do exactly that. They have just released the Highlander set and also are doing sets for each of the Hammer Horror films.

Right! After the bubble busted manufactures had to figure out how to appeal to the collectors who were left. It drove up expectations and now it seems a regular card set (unless gaming) is doomed to struggle. One would think the license cost for a simple card set would be less but in todays memorabilia boom who can tell?

Now that the Disney monopoly has awarded card rights to Topps it would at least be nice to see the title choices expand.

Back to the Future 1 and 3. For some reason Topps only did a set for 2.

Unstoppable shows what is possible.

There were alot of movie related sets in the mid 1990s

Waterworld, The Shadow, The Crow (2 sets), multiple Batman movie sets. I remember them all.

Wonder how some of them did ?

The "Waterworld" card set, like the movie, was a disaster. 1st "Crow" set sold out. 2nd "Crow" set, based on the flop sequel, was on clearance forever. The "Shadow" set, like the movie, bombed. 1st Keaton "Batman" movies sets sold well. 2nd Keaton movie set and Kilmer Batman sets did OK. Clooney Batman set didn't do well, despite autographs from Clooney, Schwarzenegger Thurman, Silverstone, etc.
Most recent "Batman" set, based on the first Christian Bale movie, also did not sell well. It was on clearance for a good year plus, despite autographs from Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Katie Holmes, and Cillian Murphy. Superman set with Brandon Routh sold so poorly (as the movie likewise underwhelmed) that a planned Update set was cancelled after the sell sheet was issued.

Always thought it odd that promo cards and sell sheets promoted 1 auto per 720 packs but when the boxes came out it says 360. 1997 was right in the middle of the bubble burst.

Well, Doctor Who sets continue to appear on a regular basis but that may be the only really long running, well known TV series still in production

Entire shows getting the treatment with a set for each season largely ended with various Inkworks and Rittenhouse issues towards the end of the 2000's, though Rittenhouse came through with comprehensive coverage of "True Blood" and "Game of Thrones" in the 2010's. To their credit, Breygent put out sets for every single season of "Dexter" although some combined two seasons into one set. They might have covered all of "Grimm" and "Bates Motel", too, but I'm not sure as I didn't collect those.
