People were talking about how to scan photos in another forum. I personally use AutoSplitter (no affiliation). I used it for thousands of photos since it splits multiple pictures individually, automatically names them, and auto-corrects for rotation; some of which were used for TCDB.

Thanks for starting a thread on this topic. I don't have a scanner. I go to FedEx (still think of it as Kinko's). On one hand I'd have to buy a scanner; one the other I'm paying 75 cents per color scan and I've done hundres of those. It's not a convenience thing to have a scanner because the main Fed Ex I go to is just a couple of stores over from a grocery store I frequent.

Thanks! I also digitized thousands of old family pictures for my family and other close relatives. If you do get one, make sure it is just a scanner. You don't want the headache of owning a printer.

Jess

Do you have just a basic printer or no printer? Most modern printers these days are also act as a scanner.

regards

John

I have a printer (HP Deskjet 3512) that doesn't work. It did scan but that was before I started scanning cards with any regularity.

I think it might be a good idea to invest some of your spending budget on a new printer.

On the recommendation of Todd Riley, I recently got an Epson ET-4950. It draws ink from refillable tanks instead of cartridges. It has a higher initial cost, but you save it all back on ink refills if you use it much at all (and we do).

The scanner is great, and Epson scan software is good.

Highly recommended.
