Postage
Just purchased 3 items from a UK seller so I sent a message asking for a total (hoping to get combined postage) and the invoice came back with MORE postage to get all 3 items sent together than to get the 3 sent separately!!!!!!!!!! Shake Head

Make sure you ask him for a refund then, if he over charges you!
Glad that I've yet to run into that problem!

Due to the changes in compensation cover on UK mail that came into force at the start of April, this doesn't surprise me. Basic First and Second Class post is now only covered up to £20 pounds, Signed For/Recorded Delivery is £50 and for anything higher than that you have to use Special Delivery. If the combined value of the three items came to over £50 pounds, then it probably would work out more expensive to send them together.

I'm not doubting it - but WHO would think that somebody wants to pay MORE? I would send a message asking "do you want 3 seperate invoices at £x postage or 1 package at £y" - Simples

Well you definatly want 3 invoices, one for each item and the 3 items sent seperatly.

To be honest, that's the approach I always take. Though I usually still only send a single invoice with the postage total after contacting the buyer direct to explain the options. The same situation is true for shipping overseas as the cost sky rockets once the value goes over £50 Frown

Unfortunately the new Royal Mail pricing does not work well for trading cards.

As much as possible we like to send orders in 1 package and we only charge what it actually costs us. That is the price of postage + the packaging costs.

We know it is unfair when the combined postage or a few items works out more than the separate P&P for the individual items however the prices are dictated by Royal Mail.

We have a policy where if P&P paid is more than the P&P it actually costs us, we refund the difference.

We apologize Hammer if this has caused you cause for concern. Will take your feedback on board.

I think that it is likely to be the normal way of things these days,as evidenced in a recent subscribers monthly magazine which stated that due to the quirks of the postal system with charges based on wide weight bands it will be on occasion cheaper for customers to have their order split over more than one package.

On the other hand, on some overseas orders I would regularly pay extra to get an order split to bring a single package within custom duty exemptions.

I appreciate that we worked it out and that it is a quirk of the system, but I think sellers need to work this out (all sellers) and work it so the customer gets the best deal
