David RProblems With Hotmail
Can anybody help me ? 24 hours ago, out of the blue, I was suddenly unable to log onto hotmail. It claims that my password is incorrect, which is untrue. I tried logging on with multiple computers and phones, but no luck.
When I tried to request a log in code to be sent to my phone, it says that this feature is unavailable at this time, even though it correctly lists my phone number.
I tried sending the code to my work email and it allowed me to reset the password with the code BUT the log in won't recognize the new password !
There seems to be no one to call to help and the on-line troubleshooting page for MSN hotmail doesn't offer anything to assist my situation.
Several other people I know of have had this problem since last week, with no relief in sight
I am completely paralyzed as this is the ONLY email that I've used for 30 years.

catskilleagleHave you tried getting help from Microsoft Support?

David RNo, that does not work. All it allows you to do is to reset your password. Then when I type the new password in (or an old password) it does not recognize any of them. After multiple attempts, I am locked out for a few hours.
Unfortunately, I don't have my hotmail set up where I can log in with a cell phone code or some other means. Password only.
I called the 1-800 number for MSN several times. They claim that they have been having problems since last week. The reps claim that there is nothing anyone can do for me, to just wait until MSN resolves the problem.
Meanwhile, this affects my banking, credit cards, and many other things as I can't get verification codes from my email. I also have dozens of important emails in my Inbox which I can't read...
If anyone know how to help me, maybe we can talk by phone? I am desperate at this point.
Thanks !!!
David

Reset your password
- Use the recovery page: Go to the Microsoft account recovery page and enter your email address.
- Choose a recovery method: You will be prompted to choose a method to verify your identity, such as an alternate email or phone number.
- Enter the verification code: You will receive a security code at the recovery email or phone number you selected. Enter this code to verify your identity.
- Create a new password: After verification, you will be able to create a new password. Make sure to choose a strong password.
What to do if reset fails
- Use the account recovery form: If the standard reset process fails, the next step is to fill out Microsoft's account recovery form.
- Provide as much information as possible: The form requires you to provide as much accurate information about your account as you can, such as old passwords, subject lines of recent emails, and other linked services.
- Use a familiar device and connection: When filling out the recovery form, use a device and internet connection you have used before to access the account. This helps Microsoft recognize the request is from you.
