That's the joke. These Pokemon collectors think the 90's were ancient, primitive times just the way someone born in the early 60's thinks of the 30's, 40's, and 50's.

Ha! (for those of us who have been actively collecting since the 1970s)

And some of us even earlier, I still get two subscription magazines, 1 monthly, the other bi-monthly and both of these I have been subscribing to since the 1980's and I also have back issues going back even further. Of course the comments above about the magazines must relate to US issues as here in the UK looking in the larger stores that have magazines there are still all sorts of hobby magazines available.

If NSU comes back as a Pokemon/CCG magazine I would have no interest in subscribing to it

Even with NSU, as a reader you might be interested in only 50% of the articles, if that. The big draw on some of these magazines was their price guide because that was a market indicator. Once the instant internet price tracking kicked in, magazine price guides became hopelessly stale. Besides the issue of losing money on staff and printers, the decline of the usefulness of the price guides is what made all these magazines disposable to collectors. They didn't have to buy the latest issue anymore.

I saw a few back issues of Tuff Stuff in a $1 sale bin the other day. I used to subscribe. I was tempted to take a couple of issues home, but what for? It's all in the past.

Maybe you could have talked the dealer into a “buy 2 and get 1 free” deal. That would be a fairly reasonable price to pay to go down memory lane and re-read some those of articles.

As I was sharing with a fellow collector last week that looking for the up arrows in the price guide section was the first thing I turned to back in the 90’s, but now I look forward to a good article with interesting information.

Prices change over time (mostly down with a few up) but it’s the reading articles, the letters, and even the hot lists from the past can be interesting because it’s like a time capsule and collectors have a different of perspective now. Even if you collected through those times or are new to the hobby you can learn something from some of those past magazines. It’s almost like when people read books over and over again. You can notice something new with new read.

Are there any magazines dedicated to trading cards in the UK?
