I would be happy if I got that box too. With the boxes being so expensive and containing so few cards, my happiness with a box is going to hinge on whether I get a main cast member autograph or at least a prominent/favorite guest star autograph from that season. I'd be happy with a Horatio Sanz autograph.

One case - 3 sketches, 2 parallel autos, 7 base autos, one relic (Gamorrean guard 06/25)

Nothing special pulled, no main characters except the good Doctor. I still enjoyed opening the tins.

I only have 3 doubles out of the 82 base cards. However, I pulled the same 4 character cards and the same comic book artwork card from each tin.

This is pricey for what's in it unless you pull a really good autograph or a sketch.

Overall grade C/X-RAY
Pros: comic art, characters, at least you have long shot odds at autos, relics, props, plates and sketches.
Cons: formerly a retail blaster had 10 packs and a bonus. Now you get 9, and the tenth has the relic with no other cards.

How would you rate the sketches? It's discouraging to read that even when you buy a case, you don't get much of anything special. The doctor is a recurring character but I would've expected at least another autograph of that level of recognizability in the pile.

I hope you and anyone else who pulls a sketch will post what they got at some point.

Thanks for your concern, on this occasion the sketches were average, I did buy an AP sketch from Andy Fry, and a sketch from Brad Hudson from eBay. Sometimes the cases are lousy, sometimes brilliant. You pays your money etc. Take chrome legacy for example I pulled 2 x superfracters 1/1 and three red parallels /5. I have have had good, I have had bad.

I talked to a local shop owner about this. He says it hasn't been moving as fast as Season 1 has. He's asking $145 for a box of Season 2 now.

I've seen this selling in the $80-120 range over the past couple of months.

I was looking at sales of this over the past three months. The range has been $155-170 creeping toward the high end in May (but with free shipping for three high end sales). There were a couple of sales around $200 also.

I saw a Pedro Pascal (A-PP) autograph sold as a Best Offer for somewhere less than $2474 (maybe $2000-2200?).

I stopped in a local sports card shop the other day and bought some binder pages and I looked at what they had of non-sports boxes. The recent Star Wars boxes were at least $300 (two different Star Wars Galaxy and another one) except they also had four tins of The Mandalorian Season 2 which were priced at $150. I thought about getting one as that is just below the range of the going-rate according to Ebay anyway and I wouldn't have to pay shipping.

I went back today and bought a box willing to take a shot. I ended up with this:

It's a common autograph. Even a numbered one out of 99 seems to go for about $15-20 - maybe less. It was in the second pack from the top. Would my luck had been different if I picked one of the other three? I'll probably never know.

I might try to assemble the base set at some point (maybe keep an eye open for another cheap autograph) since the Season 1 boxes are way too expensive to even think about.

I think your experience is pretty much the norm with sealed boxes of recent product. The price you paid was not unreasonable for the product and you felt you would give it a try knowing the odds were against you. However, as you say, you can't predict an outcome for something you don't at least try. So you tried. Unless you bought all 4 boxes, you will never know if you missed the lucky one, or if none of them had more than a common hit. That's just how it is and why you have to hold your breath when scratching that itch to bust a box.

This reminds me of RA's recent case guarantees. What they are doing is taking the 3 or 4 top new autograph hits and saying that you are guaranteed to have one in every case. As an example, in Fraiser you were guaranteed a Grammer, Pierce or Gilpin in every case. For the last Game of Thrones, you got either a Clarke, Dinklage or Harington.

Now that sounds great, you have a chance of a big hit if you open and break up a clean box from a clean case. But the reverse is also true. Once someone finds the box with one of those guaranteed cards, the rest of the case has none of the other two. You are guaranteed to get one, while also guaranteed not to get two. So which is better, the random insertion or the constructed one?

I don't know, but I stay away from both now. For me this has become a hobby of buying individual cards that someone else opened. And when someone else begins to lose too much money, they will stop opening boxes too. Fortunately there are millions, maybe billions, of non-sport cards already made and out there in the world. It's enough to keep the hunt going without any new material.

I added the autograph list to a previous post above. Obviously, Weathers, Pascal, Esposito, or Morrison would have been fantastic but I would've been happy with Sanz or Sun-Hyung Lee. Of course, I would have been happy with a nice sketch too (a nice sketch being it looks like someone did well at art school and I don't mind black & white) which seem to be about 3 per case. The free, maybe-one-minute sketches on the backs of Dark Horse signing cards 25 years ago hold their own in quality against a lot of the ones inserted in expensive boxes now

Yeah, I do get the feeling the other three have commons but it would be great to be there if someone opens them there. Are they boxes left unopened because an opened case had already yielded one or two in-demand autographs? A guy in the store did say he had opened boxes of it before, but from the flow of the conversation, I think he opened some back when the title was new.

Yeah, I still don't regret buying it. I would've regretted not getting one if the boxes bumped up to $200 next week.

I would rather have random insertion - would rather have a chance at more than one big autograph per case than a guarantee of just one. It seems pretty stingy to guarantee just one anyway. You get 12 tins per case of Mandalorian Season 2 and a case probably started out around $800. The only main character auto Steve J. got out of a case was Dr. Pershing - that plus 3 average sketches. That is actually another common at least according to the market. You can find one for $10-15. At that point maybe the one main character guarantee is better.

Yeah, you're better off buying the singles you really want. You just have to know the range and recognize the best deal when it pops up.

I checked out a box break on Youtube. The guy immediately got the Freighter Pilot auto and he was okay with it at first but seemed increasingly irked by the pull as he opened the rest of the packs (maybe hoping for another auto?). He did get a numbered parallel and was clearly happier with that.
