So I bought a couple boxes of the new Razor Ink set and got more Rittenhouse auto's then anything else. I got Twilight Zone, Highlander, Farscape and Wild Wild West in the boxes as well as 4400 Alias, and Smallville. Any one else got mostly Rittenhouse in theirs?

I got:
Box 1 :
A box of Indiana Jones: KOTCS- No Auto's
Farscape: Through The Wormhole- A43 Marta Dusseldorp
4400 season 1- A1 Jacqueline McKenzie
Highlander Expansion Set- IA4 Elizabeth Gracen as Amanda
and
Witchblade- A6 John Hersley

Box 2:
A box of Series 1 New Moon
Smallville Season 6- A54 Tyler Posey
Quotable Xena- A35 Tsianina Joelson as Varia
Wild Wild West- A3 Lloyd Bochner (Zachariah Skull)
And
Twilight Zone Series 4- Jeanne Cooper as Liz in "Mr. Denton on Doomsday"

Overall not to bad i might pick up a couple more just for kicks.

At least we can say that is no fault of Razor. I checked out the breakdown thread for that release and it seems Topps let out a lot of dud boxes. Shame. Nothing I hate more.

IMO: The auto pulls have been subpar compared to the last release.

I wonder if Razor bought out a bunch of RA inventory to fill out the product.

I'm glad I only purchased 2 boxes of this release. I'll post my breaks when they arrive.

We haven't seen anything really huge yet, but since I missed out on the first release, I still think we are seeing a nice breakdown for this set. There are definitely autos being posted I would not mind having. Besides, maybe the really big ones are in our boxes Wink. I only got two as well.

Hi Board,
Just received my case yesterday and was very disappointed. Nothing but sub-par autographs. In the first release, it seemed you were getting 1 big auto and 3 mediocre, with this one, 4 mediocre. My only good hits were from Star Trek 2009 M Harltey and a PW2 from Alias season 3. Those were both out of the box. At least the boxes werent $100+.

Is that the price of the first set? Or were they about the same as this one?

I think for the pre-sale price (about $40 per box by the case), you really can't go wrong, not sure any of the boxes seen so far would merit the retail price of $50 plus. At $40 per vault, figure the average unopened box is "worth" $20 and that makes the autos cost the buyer about $5 each.

With that said, Razor has to understand how disappointed customers who purchased their previous Inkworks liquidation sets will be if the breaks shown thus far are an indication of this product as a whole. Should that be the case, the sales will stop very soon on these. Then again, since I was told these were allocated, that may not be a concern of Razor's since they'll have already banked the money for the sellout. However I hope they would not be so short sighted in that regard, as they would really leave dealers holding the bag with unsold boxes that aren't even worth cracking for the pulls, since you'd have little to no chance of re-couping the $40 you've laid out for each Vault's contents, let alone making a profit from them.

Further, if this set is anything less than well received, it will absolutely doom Razor's own own "Americana" type release they've already announced, at the same time giving the seeming legion of Razor haters more fuel for their fire.

Collectors should have been tipped off, at least somewhat, however when the autograph count went from 3 to 4 per vault, that perhaps the overall quality of autos had come down a bit. But because the first 2 releases were so loaded with big cards (to Razor's credit), this final release will be considered a major disappointment if the breakdowns continue to be less than stellar. Sort of a curse that comes with perhaps giving a little too much on the first 2 go-rounds.

It is very clear Razor thought they were finished with these types of sets (an Razor employee is on the record as saying so), only to later realize they could pick up a bunch of low end Rittenhouse autos, some more closeout Inkwork boxes, up the autograph count, add a few "preview" autos from their own release, and make one more nice payday from their remaining stock of lower end Inkworks autographs.

Let's just hope for their sake (and more than a few dealers holding multiple cases of this, as well as collectors who have bought them), that those 3 higher end autos on the sell sheet aren't literally the only ones they placed into the actual product. Razor was suspected of doing that prior to each of the last 2 releases, but proved their critics wrong both times once the breakdowns loaded with high end cards hit the forum boards.

There is so little margin for error these days with the increased transparency of what's actually in the card boxes thanks to the NSU board among others. Today, its pretty hard to pull a fast one today's Internet savvy "collectorate" and even if you can, there is zero chance of getting away with it without your reputation taking a tremendous hit.

While I personally wouldn't mind having a decent amount of the autos shown thus far, if this product consists of a similar lineup in all other cases, the set will be considered a massive failure, and Razor's place in the non-sports market will suffer measurably.

If Brian at Razor reading this, let me say, I've appreciated your candor with the posts you've made on this board, but I certainly hope you guys are still looking at the bigger picture.

With all of this in mind, I have ordered my own case and will also post a breakdown here. I won't be too disappointed whatever it holds, because as I said, 4 certified autographs, even "mediocre" ones and a sealed box of cards is, to me, worth the $40 gamble.

And really, if you buy cards for anything beyond the love of them, that's really all you're doing, gambling. How much does one usually get back from $40 worth of lottery scratchers, maybe $10 if you're lucky? At least here we can crack some packs, and most of these autographs will now where they belong, in the hands of collectors. I will remain grateful to Razor for their innovative efforts in making that happen, no matter what cards my own case may hold.

Well, I agree that this issue of Razor Vault is not as exciting as the first, but I still think it is a great value for collectors, if nothing else to build up some extra autos or boxes for trade.
Got my box today (Thank you Ed) here's what I got:

Box - Andromeda Reign of the Commonwealth

Autos:
Chad Faust as Kyle Baldwin - 4400
Sharon Angela as Rosalie Aprile - Sopranos
Jesse Metcalfe as Van McNulty - Smallville
Michael Fairman as Adlai Niska - Firefly

The box I'll save for Open that box Day (I'll have 3 boxes to open!) The only thing that bothers me is 3 of the 6 autographs were by redemption, so I already know what I got.

Of the autos, I'll trade the Smallville auto, the 4400 is also up for trade. The Sopranos auto is actually the 3rd I've got of this character, one in a pack, one last weekend in a Razor autograph pack and this one - so it's up for trade as well. The Firefly auto is my favorite, I had wanted to pull a Firefly/Serenity auto, and while not a big star of the show, his auto will proudly go in my collection.

Based on the very small sample of breaks so far it doesn't look that great. The value is there when you average 4 autos and a sealed box, even if all are only mediocre. However that would not be the case if most of those autographs turn out to be duplicates of ones already gotten in Ink Archives and Ink Vault. There are obviously some new cards in the mix, but nothing impressive listed as yet.

Having bought so much of the previous Ink boxes I fear this is beginning to look like "deja vu" all over again. Wink

Okay, so I just opened my two boxes, and I am not that impressed. I was hoping for at least one Charmed or Lost auto, but nada.

Box 1:
Veronica Mars Teddy Dunn as Duncan Kane
Firefly Christina Hendricks as Saffron
Smallville Lee Thompson Young as Victor Stone
Supernatural Amber Benson as Lenore

Sealed box: Scooby Doo Mysteries and Monsters

Box 2:
4400 Billy Campbell as Jordan Collier
4400 Laura Allen as Lily Moore
First Wave Roger Cross as Joshua
Family Guy Erik Estrada as The Friendly Office

Sealed Box: Jericho Season 1

I haven't opened the sealed boxes yet. I think I would have preferred the Scooby Doo movie over the cartoon, but I do enjoy Scooby Doo, that is at least good. I have never seen Jericho.

Anyhow, most of these are available for trade (I think I will keep the Family Guy auto). I collect Lost, Charmed & Harry Potter the most, but there are some Mummy Returns and Twilight autos I would enjoy as well. You can send me an email if interested, just please put you are from NSU in the subject line so I know to read the email. Thanks!

It was still fun (I always love a surprise), but still would have liked to see something I enjoyed a little more.
