I don't know that one. How was that distributed?

Thank you very much, John, for posting the above. Is anyone familiar with this INKWORKS promo card printed on photo paper that John Levitt posted for me? Supposedly some were signed and others not. I was told that the signature is how Sarah Michelle Gellar signed her name at times. I have no idea. Autograph experts needed, please.

I don't know how it was distributed. However, The Women of Sunnydale was one of INKWORKS's releases, and this autographed promo may be an unreleased one for that set. The copyright is from 2004.

This is one of those and you think you have seen it all items but there are always something different out there .I am sure it is not a custom card .
is there any chance of seeing a copy of the back or is that the back of the card as the Inkworks logo and info is showing on it on normal Inkworks cards this is always on the reverse of the card Very unusual card .
As there are three actors fron the show on it there could be others with their signatures on them
Also Promo Card being printed on it is unusual and as it is a WOS card from a very late series
Perhaps if uncle ALLan is still around he might be able to shed some light on it just hinting.
Still a very nice card worth having .

Don't pretend to be an expert, but I have a few of her certified autograph cards since the floodgates opened. Geller starts off with a distinctive "S". I see nothing in that scan that matches it.

In the past there have been different versions of her autograph. The one with all three names written very clearly is the "money signature" and that's the one you want for best value. There was a period when she was doing just "SMG" and that's garbage to me. I have also seen just Sarah Michelle a couple of times.

I can't identify what is on that promo as being her signature, but anything is possible. I only talk it terms of what would be a good display item in comparison to known authentic copies. So, I'll just say I wouldn't buy it because there are better examples available now.

The thing to remember about Geller during her Buffy years is that she wasn't signing anything for anybody. Wouldn't sign for Inkworks, wouldn't do in-person.

She was a really tough autograph, until years later when she wasn't hot and stopped being selective. In fact, she has now contracted to sign so often, for so many products, on so many stickers, that her latest Pop Century certified autograph card was done as 500 copies and can be found in the $80 range. Quite the turnaround from when everything on eBay was a fake. And remember that all those early fakes are still floating around somewhere, but quite unnecessary now that the real deal is so easy to get.

After some research I have another possible theory about that Buffy promo signature. It's not Geller at all. It bears more of a resemblance to Robia LaMorte's autograph. She played Jenny and is also pictured on the promo. She signed Inkwork Buffy cards and you can check out her signature on eBay. That would make more sense if it was supposed to have been officially issued. Geller just wasn't signing at the time.

It is great to see such a knowledgeable collector back on the forum. Truth be told, I've missed your poignant posts and retorts!

I had done my own research and never thought it was her signature. I uploaded the card to AI for ID, and she told me, yes mine is a female, that it was Gellar's signature. I didn't put too much credibility in that either. Thank you for that lead. I'll follow up on it.

Yes, check out Robia LaMorte's Buffy certified cards. The scanned promo is sloppier, but I think pretty close to the Inkworks. Glad you're still into promos, you are the King of that realm. Smile

These Buffy Inkworks Promos were distributed by Inkworks at SDCC the year that Women of Sunnydale came out- they were intended to be used for the booth signings that Inkworks had that year- one was Robia La Morte- which is the signature depicted above. The other is Iyari Limon, both women are in the image. They pop up on eBay occasionally.

And there's also an Angel Season 5 one- used for booth signings with Camden Toy and Tom Lenk it looks like as both are pictured on the promo. I found a picture of Camden Toy holding it up on Getty Images.

Awesome! It's La Morte's signature and mystery elucidated. Thank you both.

Looking back through this blog I now cannot see a lot of the images for the Inkworks cards, all I get is a blue box telling me I cannot see the image because I am not in the right region. Can someone who can see these images repost them in a all region format. Surely I am not the only one on NSU that has this problem

John

Am I in the right region? Where am I? Who am I? If this forum disappears, will I disappear too?
