I saw this promo on Ebay and now that I have it in hand, I thought that I would share the information about it. ESPN released the movie "Hustle" in 2004 starring Tom Sizemore as Pete Rose. The seller says there were only 500 made. First one I have seen and I have collected Pete Rose cards for many years now. Some of you might say this is not a non-sports promo card, but it is. It is a movie, which yes, is about a Baseball Player, and the game itself. Front: Back: Mike.

If you spot another one, please let me know. I've got a mini collection of "baseball cards" from movies and shows. I didn't know this one existed, although the movie was pretty bad.

Ryan, I certainly will. I figured it was probably a bad movie. I had not seen it. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few Baseball related movies: Eight Men Out Mr 3000 A couple of Kevin Cosner movies have cards. Bull Durham has both standard and over sized cards. Cannot remember the title, but a movie with Dennis Quaid in it has a small promo set too. I'm sure there are many more.... Mike.

I think you are right. Too lazy to look for the cards to check! Thanks. Mike.

There's two for Bull Durham. The first is the over-sized made by Gatorade - even comes with a packet. The second, may technically be a baseball card. It was made by Star. Others: The Natural - a blank back Hobbs like one shown in the movie. A set came with the deluxe DVD a few years back. Eastbound and Down - HBO sent out Kenny Powers promo packs when the show's first season was on. Great set based on different Topps/Bowman designs.

Remembered another (this one's definitely a baseball card and not a promo). 1991 Upper Deck Hi Numbers had a Mr. Baseball card with Frank Thomas and Tom Selleck.

15 years later...I've seen that "Hustle" movie promo. It's certainly hard-to-find and sellers tend to want a lot for it. Haven't seen it in a while. There's also a 3-card promo set for the HBO movie "Soul of the Game" - cards for Blair Underwood as Jackie Robinson, Delroy Lindo as Satchel Paige, and Mykelti Williamson as Josh Gibson. It wasn't sent to dealers nor given out at shows. It was one of those things promoting new shows/movies sent out to media outlets. I have The Natural DVD set. It had the 5-card set, a cool baseball cap, and a baseball. This message has been edited. Last edited by: catskilleagle,

One issue of Topps magazine had a sheet of cards that included a card of John Goodman as Babe Ruth for the 1992 movie "The Babe." There was a small set of Topps cards for the 1991 movie "Babe Ruth". Somewhere I've got a monochromatic promo for "A League of Their Own", which I figure was issued by a theater that was showing the movie. The movie "Major League" had a set issued in 1989 by "Double Bubble", and a subset of cards in the 2014 Topps Archives baseball set. Topps issued cards for the movie "The Sandlot" in 2018. I've got a card of Ronald Reagan as Grover Cleveland Alexander from the 1952 movie "The Winning Team", issued (I think) from a magazine in the early 1990s. The 2016 Topps Archives baseball card set had a subset of cards from the movie "Bull Durham".

Bill, I've seen that sheet and also a single of Goodman as Babe Ruth floating around. I was just thinking about that sheet the other day. Do you know if the single was ever distributed in some way by Topps? I think people were just cutting out the card afterward and some of those got out onto the market. I think I have images of the "Major League" set (given out at a stadium where the movie was shot) and the original "Sandlot" set. I missed out on a cheap "Sandlot" set last year.
