Who would hold a common ant underwater anyway? This is about Killer Ants. Now those suckers thrash a lot!

Non taken

Which reminds me, I was watching Film 2003 last night and the IMAX cinema has a movie called "Bugs" showing. The clip did show some ants. Can you imagine seeing close-ups of ants on an IMAX screen - you really would think they were huge killer ants!

Quaint1BCW, you spoilt my fun - I was going to post about that film! If anyone is interested, the narration is by Dame Judi Dench.
I have to say, I did enjoy watching the wildlife programme on the BBC last week - "Wild Down Under" where they did quite a lengthy sequence on two types of Australian ant which apparently are essential for the ecosystem to continue as t has for thousands (if not millions) of years.

MeanderAll this ant talk got me thinking about a program I watched a long time ago...don't remember who what when or where (I'm just impressed I remember this part...my memory isn't the greatest) BUT I remember something about some ants that would form a ball to cross a river..did a little googling and all I could find was this about Fire Ants....doesn't seem to be the same thing I remember...but this is a long time ago that I did watch this show....
This is WAY more info than you probably wanted to know about Fire ants....

How about a picnic ?

Ants love a picnic,as do wasps and bees.

From what I just read.....
The date on the pull-down menu is the same date as the posted strip. However due to syndication restrictions the strips are two weeks behind

PrezkotI don't know if this has been quoted yet, but there is no way in hell I'm going to backtrack 14+ archived pages, so here's a link to a topic breached on
The Straight Dope. It's mostly about the mantis females, but at the bottom has a juicy tidbit of the mating of ants:
