Hello! I know everyone doesnt know me and im quite new yet but wanted to put my two cents if you didnt mind. As of it i have been an ebay bidder for 2 years and haven't had one single problem yet. Its too bad there are some bad apples out there that would do something like that. I mean Its quite odd they are happy someone has bid on their item and would happily take the business. And also improve on their feedback profile. I guess some people find it funny to rip people off. Too bad they couldn't do something about that. I know for a fact that there are alot of great sellers out there and hope they outnumber the bad sellers. Well another thing i wanted to add was about getting beat out of an auction during the late night. Yeah i've had it happen to me at least 2 times or so and i was furious but i thought well i probably could find another one later in time. I bid on an autograph card from Star Trek Voyager profiles "Lt. Reginald Barclay" or Dwilight Schultz. I thought i would get it cheap but turned out i got outbid. Yeah it stinks to lose a auction but in time you could find it again. Anyways hope no one gets offended. Just wanted to put my two cents in. Thanks!!

Hey Kristy! Yeah it seems everytime i want to get that card someone else has it higher then me. I do have his autograph card from "Star Trek The Next Generation Profiles" It seems I got that one easier then this one for some reason. I mean i thought i would get this easily but I guess alot of other people want it as well. I was just thinking it would be a common auto and all of a sudden people want it.

I just want anything with his auto on it and I'm having no luck at all. My local card shop owner has one but it's a set of other star trel autos and he won't break the set. The set is listed at 1350.00 he told me he'd sell it for 900. He must think I'm crazy!

I have an ebay question... I sell quite a few things, and I have had a case recently where I sent the cards but they never arrived to the buyer. They were very gracious and left neutral feedback, but I feel so bad they didn't get them. I don't have duplicates of the cards, or I would send them, but since they were sent and I've got the receipt, I hate to refund the money for the product. I just feel bad and don't know what the most "fair" course of action would be since either way, someone gets screwed even though both sides did their part. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

You have answered likely one of the top 10 questions *guaranteed* to have two sides smile

Many people feel it is soley the seller's job to get the cards TO the person, stopping responsibility at the mailbox is not enough. No ifs ands or buts.
Some people feel it is the seller's job to get it into the buyer's hands, but feel the buyer should PAY extra for that guarantee.
Some feel all they gotta do is get it out the door.
Others feel otherwise, I'm sure.

I feel, as a dealer, that it is my job to get the cards into the hands of the buyer, but I request they pay insurance. If they don't get insurance, then they accept the possible loss.
Why?
Unlike some businesses, Internet business is quite competitive. Profit margins can run very tight. Buyers want good prices and will toddle along elsewhere if too pricey. Therefore I ride the ragged edges with my prices and one lost package can knock me back a step or two.
I can either pad everybody's prices with hidden charges somewhere or I can let the buyer decide what he wants to spend.
Now, that doesn't say that if an uninsured package does come up missing, I won't address it if I can. But, I leave myself the option not to. In some cases, the good will (or ill will) more then makes up for the cost. It has to be taken on a case by case basis.
Having said that, it MUST be made clear to potential buyers your *rules*. I think if it isn't stated in advance, then the seller must address it if lost. My invoices and listings all state my policy. People can chose to blow me off if offeneded by my choices.
Many customers may like no insurance AND for the seller to bear the cost if lost. The one person I got into a discussion with felt I should be so honored to have his business I won't mind, but I do mind smile I don't think the rules say dealers gotta always be the one to bend, just MOST of the time. Otherwise if I go belly up, what good does it do to either of us?

What if it is reversed? What happens if payment is lost in the mail, the buyer refuses to resend. Would most sellers be so gracious as to leaving feedback? Things lost in the mail are not common but it does happen. I think that insurance is the best way to go. Some sellers insist on it.

I have read through all of the posts and what I see I that if you get "taken" fight it! Don't sit back and let them get away with it. I won an auction for a Desert Storm card set years ago.
I have been a member of ebay since 3-97. He cashed the M.O. and said he sent the item insured, which I paid extra for, but I never received it. I wrote and wrote but no answer. Total money lost $28.00 But here is where things get interesting. I refused to sit back and get taken advantage of.
I had his mailing address, and drove from Long Island to Connecticut right to his house. I knocked on the door and this guy came to the door and I asked for the non shipping geek and he said,
who are you and I told him and then I told him to refund my money he stole from me! He used some explitives and then called the cops. When they got there and I told them the whole story, they asked me if I wanted to press charges for Larceny!!! The geek proceeded to reach into his pocket and paid me the $28.00 plus an extra $10 for gas! See, a little persistance pays off.
I refuse to be taken! Neither should you. Fight with ebay until you are satisfied. Let ebay pay you if you don't get satisfaction from the thief!
If they can allow these morons to be on their site, then they should be responsible.

I have only had the bad luck to have to leave negative feedback on a couple of occasions. The one that irks me was an auction for OCC bike cards that came with the A few packs and a diecast bike.I bid on a set of the bikes and was sooo thrilled to open the packs that I didn't notice that two of the bikes were the same .I sent an e-mail to the dealer explaining that I had opened the packs and then noticed that I had the same bike in two of the boxes.I recieved the rudest reply and he promptly posted a negative feedback on my account.I replyed with the occurence and posted negative on his .This is the only negative out of hundreds of transactionsthat I have. Mad

Ahhh...this is gonna be fun..

Ive got two id's, about half a year ago i created a second one for buying and kept the older one for selling. Out of 6 negs i got, 1 was legit and i admitted to it with no arguement and didnt retaliate. One i got because the seller didnt get my money within two weeks and when i contacted him to give it a few more days and i would be more than happy to send another, and even offered proof that a money order went out to him. He waited a week and just dropped a neg. Another i got because the seller says that ebay sends out invoices automatically but i never got his info and even emailed him for it 3 times, even offered to show him the cc's i sent to myself. A couple i got from a botched porn buy off ebay. Seller sent me the EXACT OPPOSITE of what i ordered and when i wanted what i won and told them what was up, they said oh well, i dropped the neg on them and then they retaliated but were horrible wrong with what they said. What they said was for sure against what ebay says you can leave in fb but they got away with it. Ironically i bought a card from a seller that gave me a neg before and i didnt realize it was them again. 3 weeks go by and i emailed them asking what was up. The guy gave some lame excuse about what happened and that it would go out. I had already remembered by then who he was and i told him, check my fb..you left me a neg cause you didnt get the payment in 3 weeks even though i was willing to re-send and show proof i had money order made to him..he got really rude..i get another neg from him lol. When i started selling video games and stuff, thats when i ran into some real winners lol. 2 invoices, no reply, no payment, didnt argue the NPB they got slapped with, but had time to leave a negative. My last round of auctions a couple weeks ago, i was selling for a friend. I ran it the way my friend wanted it done. Anyone paying by pay pal were required to pay for ins or dc. A buyer bid and won something but refused to do either. I won the dispute, dropped the neg, and i got a neg with them saying they sent the payment but never got the item. As far as feedback hostage game, i HATE that..when i sell, i leave when they pay..if i dont get it in return, ill drop them a polite email saying i noticed they didnt leave fb, did they get the item ok? and i usually get it then.

The only major issue i had with buying on ebay was when i was doing a wrestling autograph set. I landed one of the big ones cheap. Sent my payment asap, included ins fees. Two weeks go by i asked whats up, they said it was shipped. I asked for ins #. Their reply was, dont worry about the #, youll get it. After a month goes by and refusal to give me the # or a scan of the ins slip i paid for, i contacted my authorities. Showed them the emails of them being shady, and everything they went after them. Called their pd, told them what was going on, their pd contacted them. The next day i got an email asking how to make it right. Supposedly his "friend" was selling that card and he had nothing to do with it. Told them what the pd told them, give me my money back fee's and all, or give me the card...got my money back, plus 20.00 for the troubles overnighted to me and in my pocket the next day.

Just my 2 cents worth...if your computer dies on you for whatever reason, there's usually a backup somewhere. Here in the states, the local public library usually has computers you can use free of charge. Granted maybe not in all places but certainly the states that I've traveled to and had the opportunity to use them. It's easy to sign on, get on ebay and send a response to the buyer/seller and inform them of your problem.

Not always that easy... especially using a public computer - it's VERY easy for someone else on that public computer to steal your info from the cache...

Although I don't always do this, but make sure you insure the item it saves you and the seller from a big mess.

That sounds like what I'm going through with one seller. I sent him my payment the next working postal day and has now reported me as a deadbeat bidder.

Which is really ironic since they were cheap "buy it nows". Roll Eyes The more expensive cards I was getting from him were done off Ebay. He never even had the courtesy to email me privately when the payment hadn't arrived and just assumed the worst or simply didn't care. Now I don't know whether to simply cancel the first money order and resend a new one with just the Ebay auction or for all the cards I had wanted from him.

I'm very disappointed in this seller with whom I had had other successful auctions. Shake Head

For more than six years (was on a site that ebay bought before) I only had a handfull of problems. Most of them where from 1 €/$1 auctions. 5 bad unsolved experiences / total of 3000, that's ok.
Sometimes people just post neg for revenge, because they didn' pay and you posted a neg.

I left a negative feedback for this crook who sent me stuff that was pretty beat-up, even though he said in his ad it was mint! I was never one to let somebody roll me over, so I left him my neg vote.

I think it would be better to send him an e-mail and ask him about the condition first before posting negative feedback. Sometimes, it could be just a mix-up and easily solved through an e-mail.

Giving him an immediate negative feedback could lead to him also giving you one as payback.

I sent him 2 e-mails, but he never answered them! Had problems with other sellers, but got them resolved, but you can't resolve anything if the seller does not contact you back!

Since he never replied you back despite 2 e-mails, then I guess negative feedback is the only solution.
