Well we should be able to work out who had all these boxes and packages last and they will know who they sent them to so then it's a case of contacting that person and asking why they have not sent it on.

But my understanding of the original idea was that if you didn't want to pass the box on, you didn't have to - and with no reason required (you just had to send the envelope back I think!)

Now that it has been mentioned i seem to remember that was the case. When i had the mystery box just after it started i remember thinking that it was a strange rule to put in.

I think the idea behind it was that you did not ask for the box to be sent to you and if you could not afford to post it on you did not have to.

I just put more cards in it than i took out and sent it off again, i think most people did this.

I just checked the first post in this topic, started by Barobehere, and
quote:
If you receive the mystery box and DO NOT WANT to mail it on. Then simply sign the letter with your cardtalk id, seal it, and drop it in the mail.

No probs, dude!
It is a particularly generous rule if one doesn't want to send the box on - but that is one of the good things about the idea - it relies on the participation of all and (so far) has not been abused!

So keeping it was not against the rules.

Whoever did hold on to it did not, I assume, forward the letter as mentioned.

Hopefully, the discussion will bring it to the person's attention, as, perhaps, other matters occupied them more than they'd like.

Just a refresher. The original box did mention that you could keep the box and send the list back to barobehere. The box was eventually kept, cash extorted and the list of names who had gotten the box never got back to barobehere.

Not that I know anything about the Spawn of Mystery box, but I believe the rules have been modified to just say pass it on. It doesn't leave the option to keep it. This will of course not keep someone from doing this, it just wont provide them an out for being greedy. Then we can all publicly ridicule them here! Wink

Just curious, what do you mean by this, especially the "cash extorted" part? Do you mean that whoever kept the box offered to pay for it instead or something darker? How many mystery boxes are there? I thought that there were two plus another later one after one of the originals disappeared (the "spawn" one, perhaps?). What are the wherabouts of them?

I thought this was a really neat thing and even though I'm pretty sure I'll never get one it's fun to participate vicariously. If someone has abused this I'll be very sad. Frown Shake Head

Probably a good idea not to go into details on board - let's be optimistic about the new box that is "Out There"!

It's been discussed before and the member who received it did not step-up then,so I don't see any reason why step-up now Shake Head

As for the last mystery box,Katrina took care of that one as per Barrett's last post in this thread.

No - the person, I believe, was sent the money to post the box on but took the money and kept the box Shake Head
