"Scrubs" is returning with Zach Braff coming back

Netflix is rebooting the 1980s cop show T.J.Hooker, but presumably William Shatner is too old to return.

I don't know. Shatner recently went into space, and several months ago, traveled to Antarctica. He gets around pretty good for a 95-year-old.

A fourth season of "The Orville" has been written but no date on when filming will take place.

The show was last on back in 2022.

Good news on "The Orville". It's been a loving tribute to "Star Trek:TNG" so far.

Hasn't missed a beat. The new episodes that have aired are very like the old series. They even used the same theme song. Since (or in between) "Scrubs", the same creator has come up with "Ted Lasso" and "Shrinking", both continuing shows, so he's doing all right.

They announced today that the BUFFY reboot is NOT happening. SMG confirmed.

Maybe that's a good thing ?

Agreed. It would never have satisfied the original fans who watched it in real time, and would seem just like another retread of the dozens of other young adult fantasy series that have churned out since then to new viewers.

The Buffy show was edgy and provocative in its day. To try to repeat that formula for Gen Z has already been done to death as copycats. To update the Scooby Gang to their 50's, I'm not sure what that would look like. Maybe a reunion special.

As a series, best left alone.

I didn't realize that the CHARMED reboot lasted 4 years. Ended back in 2022.

Yeah, but who exactly was watching it. It was on a channel that had nothing better or cheaper to run.

I wasn't a fan of the original Charmed, but I know who played the 3 sisters, and even the replacements. How many people even know the names of the primary actors in the reboot, from not so long ago? I don't.

And "Firefly" is getting revived as an animated series.

Malcolm in the Middle is back this weekend after 20 years with 4 new episodes.

Bryan Cranston, who played the dad on "Malcolm in the Middle" was on Colbert's show last week and talked about how it happened. He was actually the one who asked the creator of the show about bringing it back in some form. That was 10 years ago and the creator didn't have an idea so he wasn't going to do it. A few years later, there was an idea and that went into development leading to the new episodes. It looks like it has the whole main cast back.

Everyone returned to Malcolm except for the 1 brother. The actor who played him retired.

Without a brother, is Malcolm still in the middle?

The original actor who played brother Dewey is Erik Per Sullivan. I would not have remembered his name, but he turned down a significant sum of money to not appear in this show again. Since he was only a kid, he is actually very easy to replace as a grown-up character.

The reason given for his refusal to not act again is that he is pursuing his education. He is currently studying for a master's degree in, get this, Victorian literature. Yes, we can never have too many scholars in Victorian literature. No, experts of Victorian literature don't need to make any more money because their vocation sets them up for life.

I know you're making a joke but I guess the preparation and shooting of the episodes would have taken place at exactly the wrong time relative to his studies. If he hasn't acted in years and has no further interest in it, what's he going to do? I don't know what the "significant sum of money" is but maybe he has that already. Maybe he's also gearing up for a run on "Jeopardy," gambling on being there when "19th Century English Lit" pops up on the board.

Of course, the other side of it is, "Hey, paint me up, comb my hair and I'll memorize my words so we can knock out these 4 episodes and get paid." How much time away from school would that be?

Well he could have put off his studies for a few months and made a lot of money while he had the opportunity. No joke.

Maybe he has more money than he knows what to do with now, that's the only reason I would be OK with it.

Colleges will give you a degree in subjects that have no applicable use in the real world. Going back many years now, I would get these new hires with college degrees that had nothing to do with the jobs they were taking because they majored in subjects that paid nothing, if there was even a business for it.

It's gotten worse today because the courses have gotten worse, and there are even more 30-year-olds living in their parents' basements because they can't afford to leave. I have to believe that Victorian literature isn't such a hot button business field that it couldn't wait. But he's not my son, thank you.

Considering that the 4 episodes they filmed are 30 mins each or less I don't think they would've taken months to film. The producers said they were even willing to go to his house and film his scenes there but he said no

Did you know that Malcolm was created by Linwood Boomer who was on Little House on the Prairie for 3 years playing Mary's husband ? This was back in 1978 to 1981. He has made tens of millions off of Malcolm. Much more than he earned on Little House when he was young.
