Very sorry to read this news.

I remember that it must have been around 1985 and The Avengers reruns would play on TV at 3AM. So I set the timer on the VHS and spent the summer trying to get all the episodes. They only played the last 3 years on American TV, 2 with Mrs. Peel and the last one with Tara King.

The Avengers is still watchable today and Macnee did good work before and after, but he didn't try to distance himself from John Steed. I think he knew that the role would stick. Wink

RIP Mr. Macnee, you had class.

The Avengers was my 2nd favourite programme of all time, just falling behind The Prisoner.
Even these past few weeks I was still watching old episodes regularly. Really sad news. R.I.P. Mr Macnee / John Steed
