I think all the alternative universes have gone too far and too dark. Name anything, Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Universal Monsters, House of the Dragons, The Boys, Stranger Things, anything, it's all nonsense. So where is the humor? Where is the joy? If people want to be depressed; they don't have to pay to be entertained.

When I was in college 35 years ago, I wrote an article in the school newspaper criticizing then current pop culture and music, saying that things were too dark and depressing.

I asked WHY would people want to waste their money to watch or listen to anything that drags them down? I prefer to be exposed to things that provide joy and happiness, to be uplifted.

My fellow college classmates jumped all over me, accusing me of "ignoring the problems of the world" which existed in the early 1990s, not addressing social issues, etc.

They were offended when I said that I went to college to get an education and not to save the world.
