What's interesting is I'm seeing people posting returns from her after her passing. Seems like she was responding to fan mail til the very end.

chesspiecefaceHere's a Robocop 2 card for the just departed actor and playwright Tom Noonan, who passed away last week at 74.
Most people didn't like this sequel as much as the classic original, but I enjoyed both movies about the same.
He also played Frankenstein's Monster in the 1987 fan favorite "The Monster Squad", and I do have a card of him from an SDCC giveaway set promoting a DVD release of it, but unfortunately don't have a scan of that one. More recently, he appeared in the Charlie Kaufman mindbender, "Anomalisa", and as usual, was perfectly cast.

RavenTom Noonan had a physical look that typecast him to certain roles and that was too bad. I always liked his acting, but his best is rarely mentioned. A film called "Manhunter" cast him as the serial killer early in his career. It was an adaption of "Red Dragon" and if you have never seen it, I would suggest you find it. It still holds up.

catskilleagleGreat movie. Great book. I've always liked Brian Cox as Hannibal Lector more than Anthony Hopkins but I know it's debatable - a matter of different styles chosen for the character.

chesspieceface"Manhunter" is a Michael Mann film and Noonan later appeared in another of his widely acclaimed movies, "Heat".

Bill MullinsJohn Levitt - wow, that is harsh. Who is it that you think has contempt for other users? And how are we supposed to know if a picture we post in one country is visible or not in another?
February 21, 2026, 02:29 AM
JOHN LEVITTAs I understand it some of the image hosting websites provide space at a cost and applying a regional limitation makes it cheaper. Obviously not all providers make a charge. I presume that that the security of what is stored by that provider is lesser on a free website than it is on one that is charging a fee. Remember that that the host is storing images which are not just of cards. If for example, you were a professional photographer you would want your images protected from plagiarism and exploitation. Note also when films and TV shows were made available electronically a country restriction was put on them. Hosting website can and clearly do provide a similar restriction. Broadcasters can also do the same thing as I believe TV channels can limit the viewing area which is subject to the fee paid by the viewer. Therefore you as the image owner can limit who sees your images however it is a bit harsh doing this on images already in the public domain and previously being permitted by you to be viewed on a website.
Am I wrong to believe this? If so I apologise.

chesspiecefaceJust move to America.
I'm hearing it's the hottest country in the world. Actually, the entire galaxy, frankly.
But, seriously, I use the free version of "Imgur", and have no say as to who can see any pictures I post. Hopefully, the images in my posts are visible to everyone, but if not, that's certainly not my intention, and I apologize.
I love the entire world, and if I eventually have to sue for custody, I will sue for custody.

RavenI'm a willful idiot and have no desire to figure out how to post images. I also don't trust "the cloud" to not let everything I've ever saved be open to someone. Not that anyone would be interested. It's just more of the principle that its mine, not yours. Kind of like autographs and cards.
Whatever you put out on the internet is permanent somewhere, but mainly temporary for the user. If the Host shuts down, you lose whatever was on the site. If the service goes unpaid, you have no access. If the image or link no longer connects, you lost what you don't remember. Go back to writing it down if necessary.
But it's the information that is all important, because then you can do your own research and find it yourself. If somebody is nice enough to tell you there is a card you might like, they should not be obligated to show it to you too.

catskilleagleIt's work to scan or photograph a card so that it shows well online letter. I have to do at least a little editing to any scan or photograph that ends up online. Sometimes, it's 30-60 minutes of editing per image. Then, I post it to a Pinterest page or One Drive or whatever other internet way station and then I embed a link to it wherever I think it should go on this site. I have no control after that. I don't know how to make sure everyone on earth can see what I embed (maybe my baby niece knows - she finds all kinds of stuff faster than I do). I've heard other people complain about not being able to visit websites like they used to because they have been deemed recently by someone not to be appropriate for their region whatever that means. Back in the 70's, I did not predict that collecting cards could ever be complicated.

I'm sure it has uses far beyond my own which are 90% pictures of cards/comics I own and the rest memes and GIFs for Forum posts like this.
If I ever post something that by sound of, you'd really like to see, just let me know and I can email you the same picture(s) as in the post.

30-60 minutes? You're doing it wrong.
Steps for getting a good embeddable image of a card. You need a Google Account (free), a Postimages account (free), and some free software.
Lay the card on a horizontal flat surface next to a window, or artificial light coming from a 45 degree angle. Hold your cell phone over the card, also horizontal. Center the lens of your phone camera over the middle of the card. Do a little zoom (2x - 4x) so the camera is a foot or more away from the card -- you don't want the shadow of the camera on the card. The image of the card in the screen should be rectangular (if the camera is not quite horizontal, the image will be a trapezoid), with even borders all around. Take the picture.
From your camera's gallery, using the share command, upload the picture to Google Photos. You are done with the phone/camera, so go to your laptop or desk computer.
Download the picture from Google Photos. Open it in Irfanview, an excellent freeware minimal picture editor. Rotate the image if need be. Crop the picture so it fills the frame, more or less. Use the "auto adjust colors" command; this almost always makes the picture look better. Save the edited picture.
Upload it to Postimages. Use the Share command, and copy the "Direct Link" (the URL that ends in .jpg).
Open a reply here, and when you get to the point that you want to embed the image into your post, click the picture icon at the top of the post window. Paste the Direct Link into the dialog, and finish your post.
From taking the picture to uploading the post, the entire process should only take 2-3 minutes.
Key points:
good light gives good sharp focus
hold the phone/camera parallel to the card, both horizontal
center the lens over the middle of the card
light should come from a 45 degree angle, instead of straight overhead, so there is no shadow on the card
And you get something that looks like this:
(taken on my kitchen counter, with illumination from under-the-cabinet fluorescent lights.)
(taken on a counter at the post office, with daylight illumination from large windows).
(taken on a felt pad in my wife's sewing room, with fluorescent illumination from the ceiling)

catskilleagleOh no, Bill. That's a lot of steps. I'm starting to like trimming down the background haze of scans. I feel like I'm making progress, getting somewhere.
Sometimes, my brother takes photos for me. I think he does it like you but he's a graphic artist so he uses stuff like whatever versions of Photoshop and Illustrator he prefers.
Hey Bill, that's looks like a Desert Storm (DSI) 4-card promo set. I think that goes for $40-60/set these days. Hang on to that.
