I believe that George Wendt played Jon Cryer's father in No Small Affair (1984) which also starred Demi Moore.

Loretta Swit of M*A*S*H fame has passed at 87. She was on cards for the show back in the early 80s. Seems like she mostly retired from TV and films after the 1990s

Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and funk pioneer, Sly Stone, passed away at the age of 82 on June 9. He was a big deal in the SF Bay Area starting in the mid-60's when he was a DJ on a local soul music radio station and also a record producer. His band, Sly and the Family Stone, had a few hits in the late 60's ("Dance to the Music," Everyday People," "Hot Fun in the Summertime") and one in the early 70's ("Family Affair").

Last night, the house band on Steven Colbert's late night show paid tribute to Sly Stone by playing "Family Affair" as the show went to commercial on the first break.

Jim Shooter was a legend in the field. He broke into comics as a writer for DC at age 13(!) and was made Editor-in-Chief of the entire Marvel Comics line at the age of 27. He held that job for 9 years, that span being the greatest in the history of Marvel Comics, in my opinion, thanks to the creative abilities he marshalled from the likes of not only Frank Miller, Walt Simonson, John Byrne, Bill Sienkiewicz, and Arthur Adams (among many others), but also Shooter himself as he was the writer of the legendary "Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars", soon to be adapted to the MCU film series. He also played a key role in establishing the Marvel Epic line, which was instrumental in bringing to comics more than just superheroes.
Rest in peace, Jim Shooter.

I also didn't want to leave the recently departed teen idol Bobby Sherman without a tribute here, considering he actually got his own card set from Topps in 1971, albeit a test issue that didn't get wide distribution.

Shown is the wrapper card from the recent Topps 80th Anniversary Set along with a vintage base card.

Sad to see Julian McMahon has died of cancer at only 56. He starred in the "Nip/Tuck" series, an early success for producer Ryan Murphy, and also played Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four movies that starred Jessica Alba. Here's an autograph card of Julian from "Charmed".

Rest in peace.

He played the Vice President in "Red," which is a good movie.

Yeah, I think I got all of mine from bargain boxes back in the late 90's-early 2000's. The ones from the National were a few bucks more and there were variations (foil/no-foil).

Yeah, I just heard about Loni Anderson's passing on the late news. She was a good actress. I watched "WKRP in Cincinnati" across its run (late 70's to early 80's) and remember her later detective series in which she co-starred with Lynda Carter. I thought that show was going to last longer than a season but it didn't. She was also of that generation of young actresses in the 70's who posed for pin-up posters.
