New Jersey Congressman Donald Payne had a heart attack on Apr 6 and went into the hospital. He never regained consciousness, and died today. He was 65.

Bernard Hill's crowning career achievement was playing the ill-fated Madgett in Peter Greenaway's sublime "Drowning By Numbers" from 1988, but he went on to appear in a couple of other little things anyway including "Titanic" as Captain Smith and the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy as King Theoden.

Bernard Hill is due to appear in the latest series of The Responder(with Martin Freeman) starting on the BBC tonight. A bit of fateful timing and almost certainly his last piece of work.
He lived not that far from me and was always involved with local events and of course theatre. Top bloke, and a top actor, famous for much more TV and film than people would at first realise and for several decades.

Rest in peace, Ian Gelder, at 74. He was Kevan Lannister on Game of Thrones and also appeared on Doctor Who among many other things over a 50+ year career on stage and screen.
Condolence especially to his longtime life-mate, the excellent actor Ben Daniels.
