chesspiecefaceJERRY NELSON, voice of the Count on Sesame Street
An important and long time contributor to the world of the Muppets, Jerry Nelson, has passed away.
He voiced and puppeteered the counting mad Count Von Count on the original "Sesame Street" and also Gobo Fraggle on "Fraggle Rock", plus the Snuffleupagus, and many more besides those in over 40 years of work with the Henson company.
A special mention must be made for his work as Emmet Otter, since the TV special the character first appeared in, "Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas" is truly an all-time holiday classic.
Rest in peace, Jerry Nelson. What you did with your life truly counted, in more ways than one. Thank you for all of the wonderful characters.
