Nobody Looks The Same
So the TV show Charlie's Angels premiered in 1976. They just had a 50th anniversary reunion at something called the Paleyfest LA and photos are online. All three living main Angels attended. Now that would be Kate Jackson age 77, Cheryl Ladd age 74 and Jaclyn Smith age 80. I believe other events are intended this year.

While it is nice to see these nostalgic reunions, I must say that had the pictures not had captions, I would not have been able to recognize any of them individually. None looked anywhere near their age. Also, none looked anything like I remember them.

I suppose that's a good news and bad news thing. Celebrities no longer age. That now includes many of the male celebrities too. But they look like no one. They all have that frozen in time expression and I find that kind of sad.

Add in the new weight loss drugs and you get the stick figure bodies with the funko heads. So far the ladies are getting the worse for wear on that front. Again some of these people, formally sort of chubby, are now unrecognizable. Some, like Kelly Osbourne, look like they are on death's door.

I really don't know how these extreme looks are being accepted by the general public as fashion conscious or healthy living. Something is going to give because any era's celebrities are supposed to be the ideal for the time. Judging by what we have now, the time has gone nuts. Big Grin Just my opinion.

I happened to see that group shot of the Angels that you described when my email dumped me into msn.com and all its clickables. I hadn't seen Kate Jackson in decades maybe but I had seen Cheryl Ladd and Jaclyn Smith. I thought they looked okay, but yeah, few from Hollywood want to look natural. They'd rather have "fake face" than real face. Fake face doesn't allow for many changes of expression especially any subtle ones. However, look at the pressure they are under not to look old. Looking old is the worst according to the internet. There is always a news item about some 70's or 80's pin-up sensation with some line like, "Oh she sold thousands of posters back then but look at what she looks like now." That's just cruel. What's any 20-year-old now going to look like in the 2070's? I'm sure "fake face" will still be preferable then to many people.

Ha, fake face is a good one. Big Grin

A lot of it now is filler and Botox, along with the old-fashioned face lifts. The face gets puffed up to remove all wrinkles and the mouth gets stretched sideways.

I hate that look. There is no room for expressions and so many of these people make their living off acting. And when everyone knows you are 75, why can't you be a natural 75 year old beauty instead of a waxwork?

Not to lay it only on the ladies either. Tom Cruise, Leo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt don't have the same features, but they do have very young girlfriends. Wink

The weight loss people are even worse in many ways. After telling everybody how much you should love your body type and not give in to haters, they discovered acceptable drugs. Now Oprah, Serena, Kelly, Sharon, Jonah, Adele, Melissa, and Rebel to name just a few, are all in skinny jeans and don't worry about positive self-images. Even already thin celebrities like Demi Moore look haggard.

That's the funny thing. Many of these GLP-1 users, who will have to stay on it forever, looked better before when they had some fat on them. Razz

No kidding, it is kind of frightening to see what the beautiful people are willing to do to themselves. Best not to be one of them.

Here's the fourth living Angel, Shelley Hack, out shopping almost exactly one year ago, when she was 77. She's now 78.

She hasn't acted in a while, but stayed in the business through the 2010's by producing six Lifetime-TV movies that decade.

Sadly Farrah Fawcett passed at 62 in 2009.
Tanya Roberts died at age 71, five years ago.
