Upper Deck is bringing us a set for Season 1 and 2 of the Amazon show The Boys.

I'm sure this will be the PG-13 version but it's a title I have been asked for numerous times.

Here's the info we have now:

Lots of parallels, like most modern sets. You really have to decide if you can live with not having EVERYTHING. Mini-masters should be doable.

Projected release date is Late April or May, subject to change since UD always seems to run behind.
Orders are due mid February, so maybe we'll see a little more info before decisions have to be made.

Been wondering if someone would jump on that title.

UD's sparse auto insertion rates have been a real turn off especially with what they charge. Really funny watching them clean out the vaults for MARVEL and now it's two autos per box. They were going to milk that stuff for years if they could.

I am sure I will pick up at least a couple boxes of The Boys.

It would be a no brainer if it was 2 autos per box . Unfortunately it's one auto in every two boxes if I read the original post correctly .

Ouch! Frown
Is that a regular UD box price these days, or just for this set? With an autograph only in every other box, that's too steep a gamble to take.

This one is going to be less than $150 a box, but it is an auto every/other box.

UD is at $300-$400 for the 2 marvel boxes that were 2 autos per. It's just the cost of premium talent these days it seems.

I remember back in the 1990s when the standard box of cards was $ 40 or $ 50.

When Fleer/SkyBox started doing the Marvel and Disney sets circa 1996 that were $ 80 a box, people couldn't believe it.

I remember those days of $50 boxes and pretty cheap shipping from the US to the UK too. I'd get boxes of all kinds of titles. I'd even get the odd case of stuff.

I don't doubt that printing costs have risen and licensing rights, and getting actor contracts for signings etc, but I also suspect that when one company charges a lot more for a box, then the others have just followed suit. RA boxes are pretty steep now... you do tend to get more hits, but they're a lot more expensive than a few years ago. I doubt we'll see prices go down any time soon, if ever.

Prices won't come down until the US economy declines and the flippers from the Sports Card world get bored/lose money and move on to the next " big thing " .

If you follow a similar thread on Blowout Cards they are mostly talking about how cheap this release is Roll Eyes .
