wtf? Gotta be some kind of teaser for the main event or I am seriously bummed out.

Wow! The complaining doesn't take long. These look very much like they're geared at Trubies who might not normally collect cards. Having just landed the license, it's a quick and simple way to get cards out and build interest in the license. The inevitable main release(s) will require a lot more time to get the autographs and memorabilia pieces that will likely come with them.

I'm afraid I can see this set being cancelled. Although I love the series, I don't think you can compare it to the Star Trek equivalent. That has a long history costumes and cards. Legends is an add-on. True Blood, for just base cards would have been great 15 years ago, but even then, at this price point, you would have got chase cards and a whole box of 36 packs. A big misjudgement imo.

Rittenhouse used to issue a 9 card "taster" set before the main event. No indication here that there would be anything more than what's advertised. Just noticed that to add insult to injury, no shipping outside USA and Canada AGAIN

As someone else indicated it does take awhile to collect enough autograph and costumes for a full series of card which we will be releasing in 2012.

I think it looks interesting, hopefully Ed can order a set for me. What intrigues me is the "custom-designed TRUE BLOOD Legends Collector's album" what exactly does Custom Designed mean?

That's what I wanted to hear. I will definitly get these now through my friendly underground means

I love the Star Trek Legends sets, and I am tempted to pick this up. I was hoping that the next Legends set was going to be Stargate, though... ____________________ "For a universe that's supposed to be half Chinese, Firefly sure doesn't have any Asians." -- The Uncomfortable Truths Well

As Ryan pointed out, this is just to tide people over until a full set can be produced. I imagine Rittenhouse would like to get some revenue out of the probably expensive license they just acquired. They said on Facebook that these will be serial numbered like the Trek and Marvel Legends sets. Which means, if you order future sets through your Friendly Dealer, you should be able to get the matching numbers every time. Makes for a nice little set. Word of warning though, start off right away if you are at all interested. It gets pricey to start from scratch after a few sets have come out and not a lot of dealers keep getting sets to have for late starters. A custom designed binder means it has custom graphics, not just a plain black binder. The grey market will be in full swing here as Friendly Dealers in the US make these available all over the world. The same Friendly Dealers will have prices a bit lower than the suggested retail on Rittenhouse's site too. I think this is a better product than a 9 card preview set. In the long term you will get a page full of cards for all your favorite 'legends.' Goes to show card companies are damned if they do and damned if they don't. People want a true blood set and RA produce one, now it might not be a "normal" set but it IS a set and assuming it sells more will follow

so this is just like their Marvel Legends cards ... they think there is a big enough fan base of True Blood for them to do this ?? they might want to check with the company making the True Blood comic to see how that is working out for them

I'm not sure how much of a collector base is out there but True Blood fandom is HUGE. Trust me. The booth I worked at for DragonCon sold out of most of their True Blood merchandise by Sunday morning. ____________________ Twitter = L_Inglis_artist Facebook = LauraInglis7 http://laurainglisillustration.com

The thing i don't get is how many people in this show can be called Legends. I'm sure fans of the show will know the main few characters but after that it is just bit parts. I really do not see how this Legends series has any legs but i hope to be proved wrong. ____________________ Come, it is time for you to keep your appointment with The Wicker Man.

Oh i see i misunderstood there. I think i was assuming that because there was a binder that more and more sets would come out in this format. ____________________ Come, it is time for you to keep your appointment with The Wicker Man.

And perhaps the sales of these Legends sets will be used to gauge if the full release will warrant a regular 24 pack/box format or a premium pack format.

Well I can't really judge how many True Blood fans will buy these cards, but I do know that by not including at least a couple of autos or sketches ONLY True Blood fans will be interested. I understand that its a preview and perhaps testing the market, but than why limit the market? I'm not a True Blood follower, but I'd buy a box or a couple of premium packs if there was something in it for me. There isn't, so I will pass. Unless True Blood is such a great title that it will sell out just on its audience or the production run is so limited as to be impossible not to sell out, card products need collector interest outside of the fanboys. Cult followings don't make for mass appeal.
