OMG I don't even own a cell phone. I still haven't figured out how civilization survived all those years without them Yes, you're right about the age of collectors, but then we are always bemoaning the fact that the young people of today aren't into collecting. These people are into all the new social media, so I guess we should be thankful Billy and the Versicolor crew are moving in that direction. Maybe us old folks should get with the program

Perhaps. . . I don't mind all the new social media stuff. . . I don't get as involved in it as lots of people do, but it is good to have another information outlet. . . My issue, though (and this is true of nearly all manufacturers), is that the information that is provided isn't consistent across channels, or even worse, the information isn't complete in any single channel. Having to follow a company on twitter, facebook, forums and on one or more of their own websites it's asking A LOT of a consumer. It's cool if they have all those things IF they have one place that has all of the information. Jon

Yes, but it's also a pain if you have to know that the most complete company ABC info is on their website, company XYZ's is via their Facebook page, etc. For NSU, I *try* to post our info on all of our sources. But we've expanded too and it's harder and more time-consuming then it used to be. Personally, I love all the sites and all the way that you can get info out there. But I also try to follow all the various company websites, forums, and social media and it's nearly an impossible job. The information is definitely much more scattered about now. And from that standpoint, it was better (or easier, anyway) when there were fewer sources.

The more you use the various channels the easier it is to see how they fit together. Posting something on a Facebook page or Twitter feed is great for instant peeks like when a new card is returned or you want to tease something. They're also great at pumping out information to mass audiences. Company sites are more ideal for promoting the full scope of a product. They need fewer updates but they should be bigger ones. Of course, this is all dependent on how much resources are dedicated to content update and promotion.

You're surely aware that this is not the only discussion site for non-sports cards? I'm not sure it's even the most popular. I'm interested for my own purposes... Do you have to post on every board since there are people who are too busy for more than one site? Just as some people feel they are too busy for Facebook. I'm honestly trying to figure out how many channels of communication are necessary to promote something. It gets mind numbing posting over and over the same information. We are talking about a business, so I would say as many as possible to increase the odds of your product being sucessful.

Regardless of where else a manufacturer posts this info, I think they should post it own their website.

Personally i think Billy has done a great job of advertising this set to everyone. Just the promo promotion alone has got everyone talking about Bettie Page and i'm sure some of those people had never heard of her before. The preview sets have been sold all over the world and have given people the chance to see what the cards in the set will look like before they buy them, you don't usually get that from most releases. ____________________ Come, it is time for you to keep your appointment with The Wicker Man.

Sure I'm aware of other sites for non-sports cards, but those are not facebbook, which is what I am referring to. I think you have to cover all bases if you want to be successful communicating information about your products or business. If people miss information because it's not universally available, it's just going to discourage collectors. I think the best place is for each manufacturer, business, etc., to have an up to date website where all information can be found. ____________________ "The problem, I'm told, is more than medical."

Sets are still available to order from their website. I just placed a dealer order last night and Billy noted that they are gunning for a 9/15 release date if not sooner. ____________________ Feeling happy? Then rip open a box. Feeling blue...then rip 2!

It would be a nice touch if they could show their first appearence on some dealer's table at the fairwell CECE that weekend. I've pre-ordered but if they are available at the CECE it would be hard to resist buying another. ____________________ Bill D. AKA: Promo Czar (self-appointed)

The very anticipated Bettie Page Private Collection Art set that has been over 1 year in the making is being released next month! The best artists in the card industry have really put their best efforts to make this one of the most beautiful sets you have ever seen. Our graphics department has come up with some great designs. And the sets will be chock full of extras too! We will be giving away 50 promo card sets with special promos only found in these redemption sets. We will also be giving away 5 beautiful Bettie Page art books by Olivia, and 2 of them come in a special black slipcase, signed and numbered by Olivia herself! And last but not least we will be giving away 2 different Bettie Page mini-statues and a Bettie Page mini-bust. All of these redemption cards together will fall roughly 1 in every 17 sets! Apart from those we will have chase cards too. The average ratios are as follows: Special Tribute card (1:40) 25 total Clear card (1:25) 40 total of C1 Double-Sided Sketch card (1:16) 63 total Embossed card (1:15) 67 total of E1 One-of-a-Kind Artist Autograph card (1:10) 100 total in Box 1 Foil card (1:5) 100 of each of F1 & F2 That's an average ratio of 1 in every 2 sets having some sort of special insert!!! And apart from all of that, there will be a special mail away offer for a 5-card X-Ray subset of Bettie Page photos on one side and images of Bettie drawn by the artist "Gooney Toons" on the other! The sets will come in their very own individual tin boxes with holographic labels and individually numbered. Billy Shipley Versicolor ProductionsThis message has been edited. With all these subsets it will be hard to complete a master set considering the website limits 3 sets per person.
