I don't think anyone doubted a sellout. First season autograph cards of any popular main cast generally become close to the top priced cards. There are always buyers looking to score better than the box.

I am curious to see if RA will pack out more than the stated single autograph card. With the last Doctor Who, 4 autographs turned out to be 6 autographs without notice. I would only even consider picking up a box here if there is more than one. If RA wants to do a single autograph hit per box, most likely be a common signer, they should put out a cheaper box.

I would agree but it seems they can sell all their product whtever the price so why lower it.

Some of these costume cards are amazing but boy the prices being asked are insane. Was very tempted to buy a couple, but just cant justify those prices for costume cards. Will sit on my hands and hope the prices drop to a more reasonable level.
Not tempted by the autograph cards the prices are way beyond what I would pay and I find the bordered ones ugly.

Yeah, at the prices I've seen so far, I'll be waiting things out too. And if they never drop, then that's how it is, and I won't be tempted to break my own budget and rationality.

I wonder if some people think these are parts of costumes that appeared on screen ? Pretty sure these will just be unused bits of fabric left after the costumes have been made .

Yep, they just say "Costume Material" on the back of the one's I've seen

So DRC4 went up for sale for £499.99 and someone bought it straight away under best offer, I hope they know its costume material.

Makes the Harry Potter prices look like a bargain!

Especially as those Potter cards are the real deal worn by the actors . I honestly thought the costume cards for this release were just filler to make up for only one autograph per box but now I wish I had bought a case as it seems you could sell the costume cards and keep the autographs while still making most of the cost of the case back .

RA is coming out with the House of the Dragon Series 2 cards on September 30th. The show has just dropped the Season 3 finale and Season 4 is to be the last one, whenever that gets aired. I saw one Season 1 episode and did not return. I did pick up a few of the Series 1 autograph cards but didn't get into the set like I did with Game of Thrones. As of now I don't know if I will look for any cards in Series 2.

So Card Talk has pretty much ignored this series since this short thread and I'm wondering how many people here are watching it and if anyone is interested in the cards? The first problem I had with it was the character names that I had trouble telling apart. The next thing was that there were too many dragons in House of the Dragons. I couldn't keep them straight either.

I did like the short autograph list, since the dragons can't write their names. Of course, a few of the humans didn't look like they could write either. I have sort of kept up with the plot to see if I ever wanted to try it again. I didn't, but here is my question to those who did.

This is a mild spoiler from the Season 3 finale. It looks very much like Rhaenyra is simply getting a more extended descent into madness that was so abruptly fostered on to Daenerys. If that is the case, and GoT ended with such general dissatisfaction, what was the point of repeating it? Apart from seeing a lot of dragon flying with all your favorites plunging from the skies, what is the point of this story? Any thoughts?

Oh, and are you still buying the cards?

I have a terrific collection of the cards from the original series, but was not interested in these cards, mostly because the box prices on the season sets have nearly doubled from those of the original series. I guess 2011 is a long time ago, at least where trading card MSRPs are concerned.

I do watch the new series and Season 3 just had a pretty terrific finale, even if it was pretty bleak for almost all of the characters involved.

I've avoided reading the text, so I don't know who emerges on the throne here, though we do know it'll be one Targaryen or another, since they hold power until Robert's rebellion. Maybe Rhaenyra overcomes the pitfalls that undid Daenerys and that's the point. As you mentioned, I do like seeing the variety of dragons here which the first show couldn't come near since there were only three of them and they were either eggs or very young for a lot of it.

I wasn't a big fan of the show, until I rewatched the first two seasons about a month before S3 started and I really loved it and dialled into it a lot. S3 has had some almost Shakespearean dialogue in quality and the acting has been superb. Some of Emma D'Arcy's work is the best acting in the GoT world IMHO, and that's saying something from some of the GoT performances we got.

Even if the story has similar tropes to the real life story of Empress Matilda in the 12th century, minus the dragons. Her father King Henry I of England had all the nobility swear fealty to her as his heir, but when he died a lot jumped ship and supported her thieving cousin, Stephen of Blois, as king(mostly due to preferring a bloke over a woman to rule), and thus started the civil war called The Anarchy; it was resolved by Stephen agreeing to put Matilda's son on the throne after him(among other things)... who became King Henry II and the first of the Plantagenets. That said, HotD is still a fascinating watch, and the dragons are so well done. A lot of people just watch for the dragons.

As to the card sets, I've been VERY selective, mostly because my wallet can't cope with going down the same route I went with GoT. So I just buy autograph cards of my favourite actors in the series. Thankfully Milly Alcock wasn't a favourite of mine so I wasn't disappointed in not affording her card.
I wonder if that might be what has happened with other collectors, not daring to get sucked in again, so the hype has been less for the sets? That said, the boxes do sell out with dealers.
