So I'm starting to see some Kickstarter campaigns with trading cards in the pledges and wanted to bring them to light for anyone interested!

Kirk Lindo's Vampress Luxura (there was a sketch set done last year I believe) has a 9 card set, promo card and sketch card options. Ends in 54 hours at this time. It's 100% funded and the cards will be made, and it looks like around 50 sets so far.

Just started today is Everette Hartsoe's Razor Kickstarter project. It's going to have a 9 card All METAL trading card set (printed by Faerie Photography) in it, along with sketch cards and an uncut metal sheet option too. It's already 66% of the way funded and the metal sets being made are EXCLUSIVE to the project.

Glad to see more trading card projects reaching Kickstarter. We did a story on the blog on Kickstarter recently:

The story focused on various artist's projects and how Kickstarter works.

I don't think anything anymore is truly a 1st ever lol. BUT I will say, and this is all biased aside, that I've never seen metal cards done like these. And you'll see for yourself soon

There is no such thing as a metal card. The word card is derived from cardboard, defined as a thicker, sturdier piece of paper. According to the Oxford American Dictionary cards are small pieces of stiff paper or thin cardboard, often printed.

I can live with people calling plastic cards, but I'll be darned if I'll accept metal.

What about wood? Can there be wooden trading cards? (I suppose cardboard technically IS wood. Wood pulp. I guess I answered my own question.

Okay then, If a trading card made of metal should't be catalogued as a "card", what should it be called? Can't use "plate" as there are already printing plates.

Slab? Chit? Slice?

A 'tin collectible' or 'metal collectible'? A collectible thingie?

Thanks for the heads up! Here's another one that includes a set of three trading cards in the rewards. Pretty cool if you're a fan of '50's sci-fi monsters, vinyl toys or resin statues (although I think that the resin prototypes are all gone now.)

I stumbled across this thread this Am and what perfect timing!
My daughter and new husband have created a card game and will be launching a Kickstarter for it August 10th. It's going to have promo cards attached to it. They're asking for $1 donations as apparently it looks good to have numbers that first day more so then even money. Course I guess if you want the promo cards, you'd have to do money.
Anyway, as a parent I intend to donate And heck, I want the promo cards
They created a pdf for the completely ignorant Step by step instructions for those who have never used a computer, let alone Kickstarter. I thought I'd include the link in case anyone wants to get involved in projects with trading cards, but isn't sure how to utilize kickstarter. It's more detail then many will need, but his family isn't online a lot.
