2025 is the 130th anniversary to one of the best science fiction stories of all time, written by one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) Sci-fi writers ever: H.G. Wells "The Time Machine".

This remains one of my favorite stories (as is George Pal's movie), and the concept has been aped THOUSANDS of times by other sci-fi writers. So were the other two books that Wells published in the next 3 years (War of the Worlds and Island of Dr. Moreau). Those concepts have also been endlessly imitated by other sci-fi writers and directors. Clearly, Wells was a century ahead of his time.

Some of you may know Monsterwax did a three card series for the trilogy of stories in 2005. They featured all original art by Ricardo Garijo, Sr., and told the complete story in three separate series. War of the Worlds nearly sold out and the other two got so low, that I discontinued selling the boxes and saved a stash of them to re-configure into one box when extra time allowed it.... Well, twenty years and two kids later, I've come to realize there will NEVER be any spare time-- but I'm doing it anyway to celebrate the 130th anniversary.

So I've launched a Kickstarter and reconfigured the original Time Machine & Island of Dr. Moreau boxes into a single "Archival Combo" box (plus offering the last War of the Worlds sets I saved to finish the first two series off). These are not reprints (we never make reprints). They are the originals I saved and recently combined together to create archival boxes with no duplicates, but all the chase and insert cards (even the long expired prize cards which feature cool Wells related art). The complete print run is still just 166 boxes, only now some of those boxes are combined into Archival Master set boxes.

If you already got them back in the day, you got them when they were cheap! But if you missed them, this is still a great deal (and a lot more convenient). Check 'em out if you're interested at:

This is a very short campaign and ends in less than 19 days (Jan 31).

If they have a pair of eyes on the back, that would the THREE card promo set for "Don't Let It Happen Here" (a completely different series, but with the same artist, Ricardo Garijo.) The regular promo set for this series is six cards with a title and text (but no eyes) on the reverse. P1 & P2 were to Time Machine, P3 & P4 were for Island of Dr. Moreau, and P5 & P6 were for War of the Worlds.

I was in a weird place for collecting in 2005...major life transition that would last about 5 years.

Nice to have the opportunity to jump on this one.

A couple of years ago I wrote an article for NSU about the Top 15 Sci Fi sets, and these H.G. Wells Monsterwax sets illustrated by Garijo were on the list. Always loved this set.
