Bought 5 packs of Superman Returns from the comic shop. In the 3rd pack I pulled a Sam Huntington as Jimmy Olsen autograph.

went to a comic shop locally that sells non sport to see what they had in the dollar sale bin, found a handful of Buffy Big Bads and some SW heritage packs for 10 bucks. Scored a randy martinez sketch and a Spike PW1 Big Bads Costume card, all black and just roughed up (the piece). guess it was something they used for an action shot, or they took very VERY poor care of it after shooting LOL.

I bought 20 packs of 2005/06 NHL trading cards
( Victory, Upper Deck ) and found the 133, Daniel Alfredsson Silver, # 185/250 and the 42, Tyler Arnason Gold, #096/100. I was trying to find a Scottie Gomez rare card.

i think i pulled the oddest scott gomez card of all. it was him from the 1998 CHL topps chrome set, and it was numbered out of /5, an international super gold special anniversery refractor or something like that. its still here somewhere, was just to odd to ever try and trade/sell it.

Boy it's been a long dry spell but my local shop finally had some new non-sports in. Nothing I was too interested in but I bought 2 packs of the new star wars evolution and got a Kit Fisto auto (I see now the complaints about the foil on the bottom, there is a very slight peeling in the bottom center on mine) and 4 packs of the new wrestling and got a Goldust auto.

Visited my local Forbidden Planet today and just had to cave into buying some packs of Lost Revelations. The packs were £2.99 each ( Eek ) so I only bought 2, and bought a couple of Firefly packs (a reasonable £1.99) to round it off to £10. Anyway, I pulled nothing of interest from the Lost packs, but I did happen to pull a Shephard Book auto from the Firefly packs Clap

To top it off I almost put them all back and buy a Buffy figure instead, boy I'm glad I didn't!

Hello all, I am new here to the forum and I don't mean to say anything that will harm others feelings.

I am glad that you have been so fortunate to find great cards in loose packs. I guess it just depends on where you live. I know for a fact that there are several people in my area
that literally go through the loose packs in search of the good cards. Pieceworks seem to be the easiest to find. I confronted one guy (security guard) about what he was doing was not fair to others, but he didn't care. I only deal with one comic shop in my area because I know that they don't allow that. They will allow you to pick the packs that you want, but you can't stand there and examine them.

we've already had several discussions about cherry-picking and it is always the same. It's a pity that dealers would allow that but ofcourse you can never really now if a box of packets in a store has been cherry-picked.

Boy is it a dry spell for non-sports in my local shops, 1 of them finally got in Lost Revelations so I went on a pack busting binge, opened 16 packs and got:

Island- I-2
Black and White- BW2
Autograph- Yunjin Kim A-1

I was actually hoping for Julie Bowen or Katie Sagal which would have been keepers but this should clear enough for me to buy both. Big Grin

How much does your dealers charge for packs now a days? My dealer is charging $3.00 for the newer inkworks packs. It used to be $2.00 last year. I think $3 is kind of a lot.

I bought two packs of Buffy Big Bads today, and a pack of Star Trek 40th. Base cards in one of the Buffys and the Trek, but the other Buffy had a PW4 card - Adam's Pants!
Best luck I've had in ages - I've been going to my local store and buying the odd one or two packs for the last few months with little joy and I was starting to think someone had been in there and beaten me to it!
No NSU yet though...
Au Res.,

Stopped by the local shop and they didn't have anything new in so I bought 4 packs of Lost Revelations and got the PW-1

While I was there I grabbed 4 packs of Fleer Ultra Basketball just for the sake of opening something and got an Allen Iverson 1/1 printing plate. I was more than a little surprised since I thought TOPPS was the only sportscard company to insert printing plates into packs.

The Buffy Big Bads cost me £2.50 a pack - very roughly US$ 4.50
The Trek was £2 (USD$3.70-ish)

Inkworks packs around here are nearly always $3.50 CDN per pack + tax (13%), so just shy of $4, which after the current exchange is about $3.50 U.S.
