Is something wrong with the UK mail ?

Last month I won an ebay auction for 2 cards and they arrived at my home here in the U.S. within 2 days

This month, I've had 3 packages sent to me from separate UK sellers (small items), each one about 2 weeks ago. Nothing has come...

I'm not sure because I'm in UK but maybe the bad weather (hurricanes/torrnadoes) in the US has something to do with it?

I had a box sent from California to England and that was delayed a long while because of it.

I know it's going the other way but it's just a thought.

Perhaps check in with the sellers?

Hope your items arrive soon Wave

I've been encountering a lot of delays sending cards to the States from the UK over the past couple of months. The best I've managed is 5 days the worst just over 4 weeks. The delay seems to be once the card/package reaches the States. Some tracked items I sent all took 2 days to reach the inital processing centre in New York then anything from 4 to 10 days to get to their final destinations. The Royal Mail even posted a warning about it on their website. The Royal Mail don't consider international post to be lost unless at least 25 working days have passed since it was sent. All I can suggest here is to give it a bit longer but would agree with contacting the seller(s) to let them know the packages haven't arrived yet. If they were not tracked, then the only way they can know there's a problem is if you get in touch.

The response is that they mailed it 2 weeks ago. They have no further info.

One of the items was only about $4, the others in the $30-40 range

It seems that giving an approximate ETA for items going to the US is like picking numbers for the lottery. I've had some items get to the US within 3-4 days and on some rare occaisons they can take 2-3 weeks. It's not as bad as sending packages to Australia, 3 weeks on average from the UK!!

And in my experience, getting cards from the UK always arrive weeks quicker than mail for the US, with Canada being even worse! Eek

I think the delay seems to be the Australian customs, as things sent out of Australia get to their destination rather quickly but post being imported into Australia takes what feels like forever.

I've sent cards to the UK and to someone in Europe. They got their cards. I haven't got mine from the trades with the UK. Yet, I must say, one is starting to smell fishy. And I won't hesitate to out the person if the cards don't arrive by sharing the unusual line of correspondence.

I sent cards to Florida 7 weeks ago. They reached New York and haven't been seen since. The Royal Mail said that their investigation is going to take 90 days.
WHY ????

I had 1 card mailed from the UK to me here in NY back on Jan 2. 3 weeks later, it still hasn't come.

Meanwhile, 2 other envelopes from the UK were sent 1 week ago, and they arrived.

What's going on ? No, there was no tracking.

If you are buying cheaper cards and not using the E Bay shipping system you only have the Item not received system wich works regarding what shipping system you use.
Sometimes you lose out sometimes the seller refunds .
It is not worth going through all the E Bay hassle and hoops wich can keep you up all night trying to get a small refund .
although i can see your point
Sometimes it is not worth it to get satisfaction
I have had it happen to me once the seller would not waver so i took the hit.
it was a small ammount ,if larger I would of taken it further .
And just use your feedback sellers are scared of bad feedback but who cares if you are not happy let them know, thats what it is there for.
My opinion only

It is a seller I have purchased from before. I don't feel that he ripped me off. He is willing to send me a replacement if need be. I am just frustrated that it is taking so long and I just don't know why

Here in New Zealand After payment we have a 25 to 30 day delivery date from the payment moment through E Bay shipping
But I can get the article within two weeks and a lot cheaper than E Bay shipping if the seller is willing to use it
E Bay are making millions by making you use their shipping when they are collecting 80 % of shipping for themselves all it costs the seller is their countrys shipping price to get to E Bays depot then they add their rates on and pass it on.Cant blame the seller blame E Bay who pay lawyers etc to come up with methods of extracting money from customers.
But as E Bay is basically the only platform we have to wait until another viable platform becomes available .
And that dose not seem to be anytime in the future.
Dose E Bays PWE system still operate

I have had issues with packages from the middle of the USA to the East Coast of the USA. US Mail has been insane!! I haven't had any international packages, so can't comment on that.

Shipping from the UK to the States has become a nightmare over the last year or two. Some cards can arrive in a few days others can take weeks. It doesn't even make much difference if they go tracked or otherwise. Actually, tracked can be the worst option as cards often disappear into the black hole known as US Customs. Royal Mail in the UK will say that the letter/package has reached US Customs while US Customs will say it is waiting for it to reach them. A few days or sometimes weeks later, it then reappears on tracking as having cleared customs.

Whenever I have a US buyer these days, I always warn them that it could take 28 days or longer for the card to reach them so to please be patient.

Royal Mail have been getting worse too. Letter post in general is being down-graded and frequently takes longer to arrive than it should. This is due to Royal Mail prioritising parcel deliveries as they are now the bulk of their business and make them the most money.

You do have a great point Kevin F. I often order prints and calendars from someone in the UK and she sends it tracked international. It quickly goes across the pond, but once it reaches the processing center in New York it will take a couple to a few weeks to "be processed through customs" before it starts back on its way to Baltimore, MD. Frustrating.
