Game of Thrones Rittenhouse
I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the Rittenhouse Game of Thrones card collection. Personally, I'm a big fan of the Gold Autos and the Valyrian Steel Autos. I just think they have a nice clean look to them. Apologies if my post seems a bit scattered—I'm still getting the hang of this forum! Was wondering what may be some of your favorite types from this set or even which years?Valyrian Steel AutosGold AutosBordered AutographsFull-Bleed AutographsBlue AutographsOthers

I hated the gold autographs, so much so that I've pretty much sold off my entire gold autograph collection the past couple of years, from all the sets, except for a few case-incentive cards. I found the design too dark and the gold pen far too inconsistent for the signatures.
It's sort of unusual to find someone who DID like that card design. Smile

Welcome to the forum grapemeta.

If you are interested in GoT cards, there is a dozen years' worth of posts on Card Talk about the RA cards, which pretty much say everything from those with an opinion. The preference in autograph card designs is personal taste and is also heavily affected by the quality of the signature to me. A badly executed signature with poor placement, blotching, streaking, chipping, fading ink etc., ruins the card. Penmanship is not an issue that can be controlled, but the execution is. RA has several autograph card formats now, including those for inscriptions.

From a physical standpoint, I would echo Hedgehog's feeling. I have found the gold signatures to be generally the worst examples as a group. They go down bad for many signers and hold up worse over time. They chip and streak easily. I rarely will buy one and only if it's a great bargain on a favorite.

The Valyrian is my next least favorite design. Signatures are better, I just don't like horizontal cards. That is not a criticism for those who like horizontals, I just don't.

I try to pick up clean FBs, Borders and Blues, which are really just Blue Borders, when I can. Inscriptions only if the words mean something to the character. I consider the quality of the signer's autograph to be the most important part of the card and I will pass if the penmanship is truly an insult to the paying buyer. That is only my own opinion.

Hey Raven, thanks for the welcome.

I understand and appreciate your concerns regarding the gold autograph cards. I personally find these cards particularly appealing because of their unique and elegant design. The gold accents add a touch of sophistication, and the autographs from the cast members provide special, collectible value. These features, combined with the high-quality craftsmanship, make them a standout choice for me. This is just my opinion, but I try to get the ones already slabbed to preserve the signature as much as possible.

Full-bleed are another design I really like, and they do look very clean—I definitely agree with you on that. I just think I favor the horizontal cards, which is why I tend to go after those.

However, all the cards, especially the autos, are just so addictive to collect. Honestly, I would like to have them all.

Nice to get in reach with other collectors out there and again ty for sharing your thoughts!

I can respect that lol...from what I've seen most don't so I try to snag them as I seem the cheap on ebay. I understand your concerns on the autos though and think what you say def brings valid concerns. Thanks for your feedback Hedgehog Witch!

I voted for Full-Bleed, although I'm happy to pull any type of auto from a pack.
Always liked the look of full-bleed autos from RA products, including Bond and Trek.

Full-bleeds are very nice esp., when the its from a character you are not expecting!!

I got into these at the very start and intended to get the original bordered version for every signer, as I liked them so much more than full-bleed design. Then, they came up with so many different designs that I'm not even sure if all of the signers even signed a bordered version. It all got out of hand for my own collecting purposes, but I'll still probably go back and get the new signers from the last few sets without much regard for whether the cards are bordered or not.

I totally understand where you're coming from! The variety of designs can definitely make it tricky to keep up with esp as you get characters from that you lean towards then I would say you are just excited to have an auto from them despite which type of design its on.
