Who do you use to insure your collection?
I recently discovered that Collectibles Insurance Services (CIS) is not covering my collection for storm damage, which was a surprise and I'm pretty sure it wasn't always that way. So I'm shopping for a new insurance company.

Anyone have any recommendations for insuring a collection? The company that is insuring my home would need appraisals which is not practical.

Thanks!

If you already have a home or renters insurance policy, see if your agent can add a rider for collectibles coverage.

slightly diffrent question. If you have the insurance and need to claim how do you ever prove that you had the card in the first place.

Would it be similar to a piece of jewellery, where they recommend taking photos of it? I know it's a totally different item, but I can't think how else you would help to prove the claim. By that, I mean photographing the cards before insuring them.

This really depends on the insurance company. Some that are geared towards collectors don't require a ton -- i.e. an initial inventory, and maybe annual updates.

Others, like the company that insures my home requires an appraisal of each item over a certain value, which I assume would included photos, etc.

Thanks for that. I am thinking these days i could get a picture of any card easily but it does not mean i ever actually owned the card.
