Thanks, but I had that one. Madsen has 3 autograph cards in total.

My mistake was counting a new Ravelec that was pulled. We are good at 726 signatures total to this point.

Barry Nelson was the 1st James Bond.



It was 1954. In the Golden Age of Television

American Combined Intelligence Agency spy James Bond aka Jimmy Bond arrives at the Casino Royale in Monte Carlo, Monaco but is shot at whilst entering. He meets up with British Secret Service secret agent Clarence Leiter (this character was called Felix Leiter in the original Ian Fleming novel). He briefs Bond about his mission then Bond runs into old flame Valerie Mathis (she is an amalgam of the Vesper Lynd and Rene Mathis characters from the novel). She introduces him to Le Chiffre who is the Chief Soviet Agent in the area and is nearly always accompanied by three henchman called Basil, Zoltan and Zuroff. Le Chiffre has been gambling with the Soviet funds of his employers and he's down several million francs. Bond's mission is to beat him at a high-stakes card game of Baccarat so Le Chiffre will be ruined.

Cool to see that you have arranged the autograph cards in film order. Surprised you have pretty much managed to avoid the full-bleed style!

I really liked seeing the Jeff Marshall lithographs in there as well, he is such a great artist and I think they are severely undervalued and yet some of the best Bond artwork available. It was fantastic that some really good names autographed some of them too. Having them matted in complimentary colours is a really classy touch as well.
It was a shame none were done for Brosnan's films.

My favourite of all of Marshall's Bond artwork the is piece below, created in anticipation of the 40th Anniversary celebrations but was rejected by EON. What were they thinking?!?

I also collect some of the full bleed autos as well. They're in other displays. I'll try to post when I get a chance.

I did see a Jeff Marshall Brosnan print for the 20th Anniversary of Goldeneye. It's quite stunning too. If you do a lookup on Google for Jeff Marshall Goldeneye print, you should get a hit. He has also done some Craig film prints.

Hi space phantom, I would like mine up and displayed but I worry too much about fading. Cool to see them set free from binders.

Do you have certain favourites amongst the bunch? I like my Moore, Brosnan & Crag full bleeds but there are so many great ones to choose from. Not very rare or expensive but I am so glad to have a card from Joanna Lumley. Judi Dench is right up top for me too.

Hi X, I have had no fading issues whatsoever. All my auto displays are not exposed to any direct sunlight or harsh artificial lighting. They've been up on my walls for the better part of 15 years. Displays include auto posters, cards, lithographs, prints etc signed in pencil, markers, pens etc.not only from the Bond films but from Batman, Star Trek, Star Wars, sci-fi in general and American Space History.

My favorite card is probably the UD Mystery Cut of Adolfo Celi(Largo) since examples of his signature do not come up for sale very often.

As far as RA's Bond auto cards, Guy Hamilton and Monty Norman; WOB Mie Hama, Barbara Bach and Ursula Andress. I'm also very happy to own Luciana Paluzzi, Daniela Bianchi, Honor Blackman and Molly Peters. Would have loved to have Diana Rigg and Claudine Auger, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon.

So I guess we may see a new set in 2019 or 2020 with the next Bond film ?



We're on hiatus with James Bond at this point, but my hope would be that we would eventually fill in those holes. Our plan at this point is simply to wait until there is another movie before thinking about making another set of James Bond cards. The reality is that we've just reached a point at which there aren't enough meaningful assets - new autograph card signers, new props or costumes, etc. - and I simply do not want to squeeze out another set of cards that really doesn't deserve to be made, just for the sake of it. Other companies might do that, but as a collector, too, I like to think that I have a greater conscience about these things. If we can't make a worthwhile product, then we won't. It's just that simple.

From this recent reply on the RA site, it doesn't look like those gaps will ever be filled. This answer was in response to a question about why Spectre actors did not have any 40th style autograph cards and why Moore did not have a 40th signature for Octopussy.

According to Steve "The studio insisted that we phase out those 40th style cards. I will admit the full bleed autographs are nicer, but we had 15 years of history with the 40th style autos, and I would have liked to continue the run, especially since we were already winding things down."

So that seems to mean that if Bond ever should resume, new autographs will be confined to the FBs and maybe the Gold style. Amazing how much the studios want to control when they sell licenses. Why would it care about the 40th style? Or do they just want to limit the number of autographs?

Don't know, but it hurts fans of that style of card format and there were many.

Even though I gave up collecting the 40th style autos a long time ago, it gets me really annoyed to read the latest from Steve, but it is good that he has chosen to share this behind the scenes licensing info.

At 300 odd cards in the 40th style, with so many deceased actors included, there will never be a more comprehensive run of Bond autos and it is such a shame that any further signers (like the SPECTRE actors) can't be added to this great series.

What does the licensor get out of it?
...Upset collectors.
...RA able to offer less variety.

If the licensor prefer the full-bleeds, fair enough. But what harm does it do to include the 40th style too?

Here's me worrying my favourite style (Women of Bond) is done too.

I hope the gaps for 40th/WOB do get filled in/RA are allowed to distribute any cards they may have already obtained.

Hi,

Just so you guys are aware, due to family health issues I had to sell off my Bond collection. I did a deal with a well known ebay trader who subsequently did not pay me so if you noticed a substantial amount of bond cards recently from a particular dealer they are mine and are essentially stolen property.

Either way, not sure if I can mention the dealer name.. let me know so you guys can tread carefully around them..

Well, that sucks. I assumed you notified E-Bay about this? What did they say?
