More Post Office Madness
I had a small package shipped to my PO Box. Tracking said it was delivered last Tuesday. It never was placed in my box. Today I went to the counter and the clerk went and found it for me.

Still waiting for 2 of the 3 envelopes mailed to me from UK on Aug 27. One came Sept 4. No sign of other 2

Just refunded another order, post office officially lost 33% of the items I sent 2 weeks ago. This is why sellers have $5 or $6 shipping on single cards.

The 2 envelopes from the UK sent on Aug 27 have, to date, not arrived

However, I've had a bunch of other envelopes mailed to me from the UK in Sept and Oct and they all came within a week to 10 days.

Buyers I sent cards to at the end of June are only now receiving them. The good news is that the bottleneck is easing, and USPS deliveries are progressing.

This is not the post office, but UPS

Bought $ 90 worth of cards. Seller prepared the package on Oct 22 and allegedly gave to UPS driver

Sent with tracking. Supposed to be 2-3 day delivery

Tracking says driver never received. Waiting for pick up. No idea where it is

I had to stop getting packages at my Po Box about 6 months ago. They would get to the station and "disappear" or I would have the clerks find them in different boxes. Finally one of the clerks said, "you know the person hired to box the packages can't read, so everyone needs to cut her some slack". 1. How the heck did she get a job at the post office. 2. Why give her a job that the main thing they have to do is read labels?

End of story, I get all my packages sent to my house because I cannot trust the workers at my PO box station.

This one is not so much what the post office do, but what they charge. I'm bidding on a card at the moment - it's reached the dizzy heights of $9.50, although I expect it to be much higher - and the charge for sending it to me is US $63.32 USPS Priority Mail International. Are the stamps now gold plated, is it the President's doing, or is it that price because they can?

It's the USPS pricing. Not sure why it would be that high as they can use a Priority Mail Flat Rate envelope and the price is $30.90 to send to the UK. There is also 1st Class International Package that is just $17.85. Both of the above come with tracking.

They could also send via 1st class international letter for $1.70. No tracking on that. I bought a card from Canada to the US and the seller sent it just regular 1st class letter. Arrived in 9 days.

So there is no reason for the price to be that high, unless UK customs is charging you a fee for the card.

The postage fee is set by eBay and has nothing to do with customs charges and value added tax which are charged separately.

Ebay sets postage fees? When did that start?

As a follow up on this, the package sent Oct 23 via UPS is still in limbo. Tracking says awaiting pickup from the sender, but the Seller clearly mailed it to me.

He sent me a replacement last week and that came within 3 days.

As far as I know if you buy through E Bay they set the shipping.
1 order 1 payment shippig included no hassle item recieved.
I can not understand the UK customs .Here in NZ we pay GST %15 on total price added by E Bay to final account.EG Item price GST added total ammount to pay no hassle go to Pay Pal
I think we only have to pay duty on items over $1000 never got that far yet.
E Bay add it on to the final A/C and happy as you recieve your card .
Do you have to pay extra customs on top of GST or whatever it is called in the UK.?

I won a small lot of cards on January 11 but as of the end of the month, they still hadn't arrived. I waited until last week to let the seller know. They are very nice people and sent me a refund. The cards arrived today. It wasn't like they were sent from a small island in the Indian Ocean. They came from Maine and the postmark says they were mailed the day after I ordered them.

I let the seller know the cards arrived. I assume they can rebill me.

This is a heads up for any UK sellers shipping to the EU . From July 1st the EU has introduced a flat fee of 3 euros and the post office a £1 handling charge for anything sent with a value over 45 euros .

In addition when I tried to use a post office the cashier claimed their system wanted to charge me customs duties and fees . This meant a package that last month cost £12.90 to send would have cost £32 this month !

In the end I went home and did it online where I could fill in that it was an Ebay sale and put the order number on the form , something the cashier said they could not do. This saved me the customs duties but still cost £16.47 with the EU and Royal Mail charges .

This may be a cashier not familiar with a new system or a badly written software programme but the EU/Royal Mail charges are unavoidable and will add around £3.50 to the cost of postage .

I had something similar happen to me on Friday when I sent a couple of cards to the States. It should have cost me £11.65p but at the Post Office I got hit with an extra £3.10p because it was worth more than £50, £6.00p Royal Mail Duty and £1.50 RM Admin Fee to ship it to the USA. The ladies behind the counter were not at fault and apologised but there was nothing they could do since the new rules/system came in.

Revising all my remaining eBay listings is now quite high on my to-do list Frown

I used to buy some new release cards from Germany dealers. Looking recently and most sellers want £25 and upto £50 to post to the UK now!

It's your £6.00 Royal Mail Duty that is confusing me like the £15 they wanted to charge me to send two cards worth £80 to Germany . The buyer has already paid the customs fees when purchasing on Ebay and customs and duties have always been paid by the person in the importing country not the exporting country .

I think Royal Mail has either misread the law or has written a bad computer programme again like the last post office scandal but at the moment all I get at the counter is computer says no .

E Bay GSP for international shipping .
Is the reason that has stopped me from purchasing from Iternational items.
Too expensive now $30 plus is too expensivw shipping for one card regardless what you paid for the card. You cant call this Post Office madness but call it GSP madness especially for International buyers .This syatem has been in for years now and must be hurting International sellers

Do you have to use a shipping method dictated by eBay or can you use a courier?
