Is this Gouging or making money from shipping I wanted to buy one card from a UK seller I sent them an E Mail asking Do you have a lot cheaper shipping for one card ? The reply was Sorry thats the cheapest cost for a letter sized package that the Royal Mail have The price asked for shipping one card was GB Pound31.58 exchange rate to NZ $64.40 Any thoughts should I get stuck into the seller regarding this or just let it pass

Sounds way over the top for a single card, although it does depend on the value of the card. You might want to have a look through the official price list for sending stuff overseas on the Royal Mail website: https://www.royalmail.com/sending/international

You should contact a nice person in the uk and get them to buy it and send it to you. ____________________ Come, it is time for you to keep your appointment with The Wicker Man.

The highest insurance cover you can get for mail sent from the UK to overseas is only up to £250 for a Tracked & Signed level, over that amount you have to use Parcelforce. They are a sister company of Royal Mail, but are more specialist for parcels of all sizes and values. That price quote sounds like a Parcelforce amount. Even a small letter or jiffy bag over £250 in value is ridiculous in postage cost. I can't think what else would charge that much, unless it's ebay GSP.

As the item was auction I do not know wether it was the E Bay GSP system , but they use the expedited shipping to New Zealand system whatever that is i have lately been purchasing items from the UK and most shipping has been in the 5 to 7 pound range and that is for combined shipping This seller dose not offer combined shipping up front but in their description says postal discount for multiple items with weight limit to 1800g When answering my question regarding cheaper shipping did not mention it The card was not a rare one but neither is it common it was a Buffy BM-1 in good condition the bid started at 50p I am thinking that they are making money off shipping as all items have shipping at 30.40 and the answer to my question in wich i do not believe that a seller dose not realise that Royal Mail can charge so much for one card at the letter rate look at E Bay #224824656360 mabey you will see something that I missed

The eBay listing number you have given is for a Dr Who card not a Buffy BM-1. The only ended listing I could find for that card was for one that ended on 12th January but that was for an auction that started and ended with only one bid of £3.00. Can you check the number of the one you won ?

Two auctions for the card finished here recently, one sold for £3 and the other one did not sell at 50p because it had damage. I feel sure i could send a promo card to new zealand for about £3. ____________________ Come, it is time for you to keep your appointment with The Wicker Man.

Looking at the listing number, whether it's the correct card or not, when selecting NZ for the country for postage it does come up as over £30, but it is indeed ebay GSP as it states the estimated import charges. Therefore the seller is not gaining any profit from the postage at all. The only postage the seller would receive is the 65 pence it costs to send to the UK GSP depot. The £30+ and import charges is ebay. The seller isn't making money off the shipping charges, but ebay ARE, as usual.

The animosity between eBay buyers and sellers over both domestic and international shipping has always been there. Years ago there were cagey sellers who would up the shipping costs to cover more money whenever they felt there was a shortfall in what they got for their items. They also liked to play around with multiple items having to pay separate shipping fees. Those kinds of sellers were never good sources to use, because if they were willing to play those games, what else was wrong with their items? If you come across one, click on by. However it's fair to say that a seller must protect himself from the unwarranted returns and abuses of bad buyers too, while also adhering to eBay's policies, which are often slanted against them. For the current methods and costs of shipping, both domestic and international, I think the biggest rip off artist on eBAY is eBay itself. A bad seller may still try to cheat you, but he's going to have to be next in line.

Ok thank you all I can not find anything about, and the seller dose not mention GSP in any of the descriptions thus giving the impression of normal shipping . Also in their description they say they can combine multiple purchases how can they do this as E Bay GSP dose not allow combining Its all mucked up Anyway at least this has been sorted thanks to all And apoligies to the seller if they are reading this

How has it been sorted in the end? ____________________ Come, it is time for you to keep your appointment with The Wicker Man.

Although there was no mention of shipping by GSP it appears that the shipping is through the E Bay GSP I have sent the seller another E Mail asking them if this is so but have had no reply yet So my saying that it is sorted might be a bit premature But will get back with the sellers reply then we will know for sure Until then

I completely understand. I live in France and struggling to buy promo cards from the USA ($10 or less) or base set singles. Any seller with Ebay's global program is asking anywhere between $25 to $50 for shipping (even $89 once). Sellers without this program ask between 90 cts up to $3. ____________________ "On Your Feet, Soldier. Take Me Back To Lallybroch." - Outlander

The seller has responded to my E Mail regardin this Somehow their lots had been directed to the GSP they did not know how but had wondered why there had been no International orders Upon my enquiry it was discovered that the GSP had been entered into their account This has been sorted and shipping has now been adjusted down to under 4 Pound an item with Combined shipping included This now brings into play the question Why dose the UK GSP system a lot more expensive than the one operated in the USA ?

Everything is more expensive in the UK. I'm actually not sure why it's more expensive here, but it's probably a combination of things including tax and surcharges for this and that which would vary from country to county, and none of it helped by having a clown as Prime Minister.

When you look at it today the world seems to be run by clowns With Joe Biden the ringmaster and others pulling the strings
