A lot of the cards in the fantasy and Sci-Fi genres were originally commissioned as book cover illustrations. Many, but by no means all, of those cards will reference the title of the book for which the image was commisioned in the text on the back of the card. I was going through a set of the Jeffrey Jones cards last week and recognized a number of the pictures from copies of books in my library. Unfortunately on that set none of the cards contain any mention of the book titles and I'm virtually certain that most of the card images can be found on paperback books. Does anyone know of a site or reference work that does cross reference the cards to the various book titles that they were used for? Yeah, I know, that's a pretty geeky thing to be asking. But I figured that maybe some high school kid with way too much time on his hands might have already done the work for it. | ||
