Well, I was originally going to post in the 'My Greatest Ebay Find' I finally found a Buffy 6 UK Uncut Sheet and won it at auction for $60 AU.

Was so happy and couldn't wait to receive it. I've been searching for this one for a long time and this one was actually #1/175 would you believe! I couldn't get over that no one else bid on it.

Anyway, last Friday, I get a blue slip in my post box, take it into the post office he hands me a large cardboard envelope and my stomach drops.
There was a huge bend right through the middle of it.
I raced to the car and opened it up and yep there is a huge nasty bend through the middle of it.
Well to say I was disappointed is the under statement of the century, I was almost in tears.

Long story short, the seller was great, all he asked for were photos showing the damage and he refunded me in full.

Now I don't know what to do with it, I can't bring myself to throwing it out as they are so limited but I can't look at it yet without getting upset. It took me so long to find one.

What do you guys do with damaged stuff?
Do you keep it, or throw it out?
As it is pretty much worthless now.

I would keep it. I couldn't bare to throw anything out unless it was severely damaged.
Sorry to hear your story. It's always a bummer when something like that happens.

I really don't want to throw it out, there aren't any rips or tears but the bend is pretty noticeable.
Especially because of the front being foil, your eye is immediately drawn to it.

It looks to have been bent inwards, with the underneath of the sheet being the worst with very bad creasing to the point that the colour print is starting to flake off. The front just shows the bend no actual creasing.
I'm thinking about putting it under some heavy books but worried it might make the bend worse or crease the front and be even more prominent.

At the moment it's just sitting in the cardboard envelope it was sent in as I'm not sure what to do.

No point in throwing it away - as the seller has been very good and refunded you, I would place in under something heavy and try to get the best result (or put it in a frame and just look at the front!!)

Personally, when I have received damaged missing pieces of my sets, I decide how bad the damage is in the setting the cards will occupy. If they are in card pages and the damage is minimal, they sit in there until I find replacements. More often than not, I move on to the next piece in the puzzle unless the damage is REALLY obvious.

I collect baseball cards of a specific player and have no problem keeping a damaged item if it's rare enough, especially when I save a few $$. It's not going to leave my collection, so it's fine by me.

You did get a refund AND get to keep the piece, which was awesome on the seller's part. Like I said, you were happy enough to get the piece at such a great price. If you happen across a better specimen you could buy it, then sell this one as is. As long as you disclose the damage, if it's as rare as you say, I think you'd easily be able to find a buyer for it. Anything you make off it goes to offset the price of the upgrade. I guess what I'm saying is, if you REALLY don't want to keep it, look at it as a stepping stone.

I'm actually very surprised that the seller didn't ask you to return the sheet before giving the refund. Perhaps it was insured and the PO will pay him for the loss.

This happened to me one time with a custom figure that I bought on eBay. It was a one of a kind item and it came in a huge box, beautifully taped, in perfect condition with peanuts inside and wrapped paper taped all around.

I opened the paper and the figure had one arm broken off and the hand on the other arm broken off. I nearly died.

Well the seller gave me a refund after assuring me that he didn't send it that way. But he did want the figure back. I wish I could have kept it, I would have glued it together and wouldn't have minded since it would have been for free.

Enjoy your sheet until you get the chance to upgrade it.

Yes I was very surprised when I received an email saying that I had been refunded without being asked to send it back.

I"m not complaining about the seller at all, he was really great about a really bad situation. I was hoping by some small chance he had another one and just asked that I return the damaged one and he send a replacement, no such luck of course.

I'll just put it away to see if it straightens out a bit with time.

I have a question. Are you talking about the "ONCE MORE WITH FEELING" uncut sheet? and if so, I have another question - on the bottom right of the sheet are there the words " of 175 UK EDITION" with NO number indicating which it is? Mine is like that!

Cardaddict, yes it is the "ONCE MORE WITH FEELING" UK Uncut Sheet.

Yes it does have a number at the bottom of the Sheet, it is number 1 out of 175.

That's weird. Where yours has the number '1', mine is absolutely untouched with no hint of a number at all. I must dig out the folder and see what number is on it.

5 minutes or so later - I found my opened folders (and about a dozen more unopened ones!) and don't have the UK season 6 one! I must have bought it on Ebay. I wonder if it's a proof sheet or else just a mistake. It sort of irks me that there is no number on it though.

I think having one without a number is pretty collectible in itself.

Judging by the number of NSU issues I recieve through the letterbox, I'm of the opinion that postmen are word-blind to the 'Do not bend' notification Even if it doesn't say this, there must be some kind of savvy that gives a hint that goods should be kept flat.

I'm betting on the "forgot to put the number on" theory. And I'm constantly receiving packages stamped DO NOT BEND folded and carefully placed in my mailbox. If you want something not bent, you must either send it in a box or use a board to protect it.

Back when I used to buy records through the mail. (remember records?) I got home one day and folded in half and stuffed in my mailbox was an LP record I had been waiting on.

DO NOT BEND clearly showing on both sides. Complained to the post office and took the item in. A few days later there was an envelope from the carrier with a check in it!

This was back in the Stone Age (Mid 1980's!)

What I have found especially frustrating is knowing that an item made it all of the way to my door step unharmed only to have it damaged by my mailman squishing it into my mailbox.

This doesn't apply to everyone but I solved that issue years ago. My mailbox is attached to my garage. I did away with the mailbox in favor of cutting a hole through the wall and installing a fairly wide mail slot. I would have made it even bigger if they made a brass frame bigger. My NSUs arrive flat, no problem.
